"O Iris, goddess of the rainbow, please accept my offering."

Nico threw the drachma into the mist. "Show me Leo Valdez."

The rainbow shimmered. An image of a cave appeared. There were tools and parts strewn around, and Festus seemingly keeping watch, but no sexy- er, scrawny boys to be found anywhere.

Nico wrinkled his nose and shook his head. The excessive use of shadow travel was obviously getting to him.

Nico sighed. "Maybe Mom was wrong." He said, forgetting to remember that Persephone was his step-mom. "Maybe Leo isn't so dangerous after all." Mrs. O' Leary gave Nico a look.

"Oh, come on, it's not like he's doing anything. He's just wandering around like a... Like a lost puppy." The hellhound growled, unhappy to be compared to the living flame.

"Alright then," Nico said, looking for another example. "He's like a... A... Like me."

Nico, without thinking, shadow traveled. He didn't have any idea where he was going, which was not only stupid but dangerous. What if, with no destination, he got stuck in shadow form? But Nico wasn't thinking clearly.

He tried to concentrate. He couldn't find Leo if he was dead. He repeated it to himself. He couldn't find Leo if he was dead.

The shadows only seemed to hear one thing: Find Leo.
