Chapter Nine: Cj

That night was a little bit easier than I had expected. I expected me, under a bridge, at a friends house or something. Not myself, staying in the same bed that I had for two days. My heart sank when I noticed that Raylin's things weren't there. They had all been moved out. Earlier, I was to focused on leaving this place, that I haden't noticed her bed sheets had been replaced, and things had been removed.

When I went to dinner, I sat by Dimitri. He had already changed out of his earlier outfit. Now, he wore sweat pants and a plain grey shirt. I was wearing an outfit slightly similar to his. I had on grey sweat pants, and wore a black tank top with lace around the straps and hem of the shirt.

Elian was wearing her typical hot pink booty shorts and a low-cut soft pink shirt. She sat down next to some other guy, that I still didn't know. She seemed to be flirting with him. Tossing her hair over her shoulder every now and then, batting her eyelashes. Stuff like that.

Tonight's dinner was some meat, corn, and mashed up potato's. Wanting to get dinner over with, I scarfed it down. Once dinner finished, I bolted to my room. Lilly was gone. I just now noticed, but all of her belongings were gone as well.

She was replaced by a tall girl who probably stood around 5'9. The girl had dark brown eyes and ginger hair. She smiled sweetly at me. I immediately took notice of all of the band bracelets she wore. Green day, Panic at The Disco, Fall Out Boy, Falling in Reverse. I had to admit, I did like the band Falling in Reverse.

"Ughm...hi?" I said just as the ginger noticed me.

"Hey! I'm Cj, nice to meet you. Well, Cj is basically short for my first and middle name. But that dosent matter. Are you new here as well? Whats your name? How old are you? Do you like drawing? How about anime? Oh my god, I love anime! My favorite show is-"

I quickly cut her off before she could torture me any further with her dumb questions. "If you don't shut up right now, I'm going to find a brick and throw it at you."

Her expression didn't change. "You must be River? Elian warned me about you. Saying stuff like how violent you were."

I smiled, "That's nice."

Why would Elian say that? I haden't said anything violent...yet. To my suprise, Cj frowned. Yeah sure, smile at me threatening you, frown when I say something simple.

"You don't like me.. I can tell." Cj said softly, looking down. She continued unpacking, so I walked over to my bed, flopping down onto it.

"Its not that I don't like you, I've just had a really complicated day." I brushed my short brunette hair into a pony tail. I think that I'm going to grow it out...Maybe dye it black, dark red, or something?

What are you thinking River? Get a grip. Yeah. Inner voice thingy is right. I shouldent be worried about my hair. I should be worried about my sister, and who the hell Cj is. Not to mention why Elian is scaring people away from me.

"I get it. I mean, this isn't really new to me. A foster home. I've been in and out of them all of my life. Just how it goes, you know?" A sad smile played over Cj's face.

No. I didn't know. I've been with my mother, Victoria, since birth...at least I think I have. I still had no freaking idea why the hell we were taken away. I've asked Judy during my free time, but she just says things like, 'Oh, its classified Deary. So sorry.' Suddenly, I felt a pang of sympathy for Cj.

"Hey, I'm sorry. How old are you? I'm 16." This earned a grin from Cj.

"I'm 16 too! Does that mean we'll have classes together?" She asked hopefully.

"Probably. We'll have some together." I answered dully.

From the other room I heard Judy yell in a sweet voice, "Lights out!"

With that, I climbed into bed, and fell asleep. That night, I dreamed of Raylin. My mom. My old friends. Alex...
