* Recap *
The scent of hyacinth flew by when she moved. How did Shirley get into this mess?!
She reacted scared on my growl, of course, she didn’t know what was going to happen. ‘I’m not doing anything! I swear, let me go and I won’t tell anyone about it!’ I wanted to walk up to her, take her with me and leave. But that didn’t seem such a good idea seen the amount of wolves. If I’d do anything unpredictable, I’d probably die.
Everyone watched us carefully. I saw flashes of red in their eyes. I didn’t like this and I saw that Ian also didn’t.
White Warrior -19.
What are we going to do?
I don’t know, Ian, we’re capable of a lot of things, but we can’t fight so many wolves at once. And I’m not leaving you here, they might take you as well.
From behind two grey wolves someone appeared. I’d never seen him before. He was big. As in tall and muscled, kind of big. His hair was as short as possible, you know, millimetres. Also, there was this big scar over his eye and that made him look very dangerous. And the fact that sometimes his eyes glowed red, made him look terrifying.
‘Let me see, two little wolves, trying to save their friend? So cute,’ an evil grin appeared on his scary face. ‘I’m afraid that won’t happen, gentlemen.’ Wait, did he really think I was a man? I looked towards the guy who knew I was a girl, not that it mattered in this situation, but still.
‘You probably wonder why I’m doing this,’ I kept watching every wolf and man. Everyone was quiet, I guess they don’t want to disturb their leader in whatever he’s going to say. Everyone, apart from Shirley who wailed on the ground.
‘Well, we like it here,’ he started. ‘The villages are far away from here. We can do what we want, when we want. And if we want to, we get ourselves a lovely little snack. And because nobody knows about our existence, they will never think that people are taken away by big bad wolves’ he said sarcastically.
‘No, it’s more something like kidnapping or a murder.’ He looked at the sky. ‘Well, it’s actually the same, we kidnap them, and we eat them afterwards. But nobody knows that they end up in our stomachs. Our large and well fed stomachs that make us strong and never tired. I won’t be surprised if you’d already know that.’
Behind me I heard Ian growl, but I blocked his path. He was a calm guy who always thought before he acted, but I knew he wouldn’t be able to control his anger. ‘Aw, look at them, one blocks the other from freeing his friend.’
Alex, what are you doing? He muttered.
I’m making sure you don’t do stupid things I heard him growl right after I said that.
That you’re one of us now, a Hunter, doesn’t give you the right to tell me what to do and what not to do, Alex. I was born here, you weren’t, so that gives me more right than you he sneered.
He hurted me by saying this, it was the first time anyone here spoke to me like that. And he was right, unfortunately, but if I had let him go, we’d both be dead. I had more experience with enemies then he had so I ignored it.
I heard a laugh and concentrated on the guys and wolves in front of me. ‘Guys,’ the creepy one said, and stepped back. They pulled Shirley up, untied her and pulled of the bag on her head.
Frightened, she looked at her surroundings until she saw me and Ian. She seemed relieved and happy when she saw us. I wish I could say the same about me, but I was worried about what was going to happen.
