"i know what it's like to be in your position"
he jumped, startled, and turned around to face fiona. her face was emotionless.
"i know what it's like to do the wrong things for the wrong reasons"
he didn't think she would actually still be talking to him.
fiona sucked in a deep breath, "i pushed everyone that cared about me away, just to get them to notice me. i used to be happy, but then i saw them and thought they were cooler, and then i changed. and so did they."
she sounded distant "i had just joined the cheer squad but i didn't have any friends so i was usually alone during practice. so one of them, racheal i think, told me i could hang out with them if changed the way i looked a bit. of course i jumped at the opportunity."
he was quiet.
"so then i did what they wanted. i changed. i changed my hair, clothes, attitude... friends. and now i just feel alone. it wasn't even remotely worth it"
she placed a hand on his shoulder.
"please, don't make the same mistake i did"
