Knight

Chapter 2

Elle has always loved being outside. As a child she spent the majority of her time playing with her sisters in the woods behind their house. She grew up to become a wildlife manager so she could spend her time outdoors helping animal species. Most people think she's odd because she isn't up to date on all the social media websites. However Elle thinks more people need to get off their phones, and go outside to experience nature.

Reservation was a beautiful place to live, and Elle would love to savor the moment but her legs were killing her. It's as if Knight senses her pain and starts rushing towards the jeep parked nearby. He gently places her in the seat and straps her in. Within seconds they are rushing towards Medical to get her treatment.

Knight runs into Medical and orders a room for Elle from a beautiful tall New Species female. She introduces herself as Midnight and escorts the two to the closest room. Elle keeps looking all around to take in everything she's experiencing. It's almost overwhelming. Who thought she would be this lucky to get into Reservation land and meet New Species.

The burns on her legs become almost unbearable and she wonders if there is something more serious causing this amount of pain. Blackness begins taking over her vision, and she wants to drift off so the pain is bearable.

Knight starts calling her name frantically, but all she can think is the relief she's feeling as the blackness takes over.

Knight looks at Midnight, "Fix her now. I can't lose her. She feels like home when I hold her and I never want to let her go."

Midnight hooks Elle up to machines and begins to clean her burn wounds. The younger Dr. Harris comes into the room to check Elle over and notices the only damage done to her body were the burns. "You're lucky Knight, she will be fine and wake soon. Many other males have gone through worse situations with their mates."

That doesn't sit well with Knight. "I don't care what other males have gone through. She's mine and it causes me pain to know I couldn't protect her from this. She shouldn't have to suffer because some a$$ decided to try ram down the walls with his truck."

"Know that she will be fine, and will come around in the morning. I'll check on her throughout the night, and she could come around even sooner. Be calm, she will need you to comfort her when she does wake up since she will be in pain." Dr. Harris replies.

Knight watches the two walk out the rooms and sulks. How can they say his Elle is fine? Just looking at the mess the burns caused on her legs is proof enough that she is not. All she wanted to do was protect a female mountain lion and this happens to her on his watch.

Looking at her makes his heart hurt. She is the most beautiful thing in the whole world to him, and he could never imagine letting her go. Her long dark brown hair and vibrant green eyes captivated him from the start. But her thoughtfulness and protectiveness over that feline mountain lion showed her true form.  She was exactly like him, and wanted to protect those that cannot speak up for themselves. He needed her to wake up.
