Chapter 10

Sorry all for the long hiatus. I had a lot of personal things I was going through and a move I was dealing with. I also started a new story called Alice in Lumberland so you can check that out too!
I'll also be hoping to write once a week and the story on Book will come after I finish Knight.

Knight lead Elle out of the cafeteria after they filled up on breakfast. He had the perfect place to show her, and quickened his gate out of excitement.

Elle notices this change in Knight and tries to keep up. Wondering what brought this on she asks, "where are we going now?"

Knight looks at her with a twinkle in his eyes and replies, "you will see in just a second little one."

A large building labeled VB comes into the distance and she's getting excited about what this building could possibly hold. "What does the VB stand for? And why are all the buildings labeled with letters and not numbers?"

"Our whole lives we've been referred to by numbers. We do not like to think about our time when we were held by Mercile, so we label things by letters instead." Knight explains.

Instantly feeling guilty Elle apologizes for that naive question. She knows they were treated worse than animals for slaughter, and bringing up his past has to be a nightmare.

Knight opens the door to the building and lets Elle walk through. Instantly she knows what the V in VB stands for. This is their veterinary building.

She turns to Knight, "Is there a reason we came here first? My mountain lion isn't sick or hurt again, is she?"

"No, no. She is fine and happy. I figured maybe you would want to take a look around this building to see if you wanted a job here. The animals that are brought in have been tranquilized already, so all you would have to do is tend to them so they can be realized onto Reservation lands."

Elle becomes confused. "Wait. So anyone can come into the building and get a job just like that?"

Knight smiles at her, "yes any New Species can get a job in their preferred field. This is what you are passionate about, so give it a try. You will still be helping wildlife, but in a more controlled and safe environment."

Out of excitement she jumps onto Knight and yells, "Of course I would want this job! I still can't get over how amazing Reservation really is and how nice New Species are."

Having his mate so close gets Knight turned on instantly. And having a hand full of her ass allows him cop a feel. He starts to purr getting more and more turned on by the feel of Elle's body until Elle pushes back and they hear someone clear their throat.

Knight gently sets down his Elle and arranges himself since he is still turned away from the source of the sound. He can sniff her presence though, and knows it is Emerald, the manager of the veterinary building.

Emerald picked her name because her eyes were bright and vibrant like an emerald. She was another feline hybrid with long dark brown hair and tanned skin.

He notices Elle is already introducing herself to Emerald and talking about how much she loves the building.

Emerald glances at Knight and says, "Congratulations to you both on your mating. I'm sorry to interrupt you two, but I heard someone yelling out here and decided to check out what was wrong."

Elle blushes at her previous excitement and explains, "Knight was informing me that if there is a spot available for me, I could work here."

Knight growled, "I didn't say if there was a spot for you. I said if you wanted this job you can have it. You are New Species now and are treated as such."

Emerald joins in, "That is the way of our life here. I would gladly take you on to work in the veterinary building. Any help is needed, especially with the large amount of wildlife we get in."

"I have my degree in wildlife management. So I wouldn't know how to operate on any of the animals, if they were to ever need it. But I could check out the animals and help rehabilitate them for their release into Reservation." Elle explains.

Emerald replies to Elle saying, "that will work out perfectly. When do you think you can start work here?"

Knight steps in and says, "She'll be available to work when I am working. I would like her shift to start and end when mine does."

Elle feels uncomfortable with Knight speaking like this to the person in charge of her job. Before she can open her mouth to say something Emerald responds, "that will be just fine Knight. So let's say next week you can start on at the beginning of the week and go from there."

Emerald smiles at the two and walks away explaining she has to get back to the lion she was previously treating.

Knight leads Elle out of the building and asks, "Are you excited about starting your new job? I know you've been lonely at our house with me gone at work all day."

Elle beams up at Knight and replies, "I couldn't be more excited Knight. I can't believe I got the job just like that! Thank you for taking me here. You really are the best mate ever."

Knight growls, "I'm your only mate ever."
