The Elemental Rider

Introduction

"1000 years ago there lived a special girl. She was brave, powerful, and beautiful. The biggest hero ever known since dragon riding began. She could call upon all the elements at anytime. Her dragon was just as strong as her evenly matched. On her 18th birthday darkness fell across the land. An evil man named Adrian took over the land. His name even meaning dark one. Everyone was terrified but The Elemental Rider was not. Her dragon and her used all their powers together to rid the world of darkness. Before she could leave she yelled one sentence that still worries us today. "History will repeat itself." Meaning one day we will find another Elemental Rider who will chase away another darkness."

My History teacher had so much passion and emotion in her voice. She talked about it as if she was there. She probably was, she was so old.

I sighed, doodling on my desk. Being 17 meant I had heard this story for 17 years. Even when we had no idea what the story meant we were still informed every year. Being the Elemental Rider sounded difficult, and like it sucked. Sure it would be cool to have powers and an awesome dragon, but the pressure of the world on your shoulders sounded awful. How could you not collapse under the pressure?

I sure feel bad for whoever gets that title. I'm just crossing my fingers I'm chosen to be a dragon rider. Not many are, just the special ones. As in the ones they see something in or the elementals. Elementals have one or two elements while the next elemental rider is suppose to have all four. My dad was one and so was my grandma. My grandma was a wind elemental while my dad was a fire.

Every girl dreams of being a rider due to apparently the hunk of a teacher. I wouldn't know though because I don't stalk him or talk to anyone for that matter. I can talk but I'm shy, plus I don't really have any friends. I guess you could say I was the social outcast. I just never fit in with anyone even when I was little.
