It was horrible.
That was the only word Terri Walker could think of to describe that night. Terri sat in complete silence as she looked at her sister's sleeping form. She looked pretty peaceful. The good news was Amanda would live. The bad new was she was going to have a scar on her arm and side for life.
Terri looked silently at Amanda. Mom and Dad were freaking out but relieved she would be okay. Peter had cried himself to sleep already. So, at the moment, Terri was the only calm one.
She always had been.
"Terri?"
Terri eyes automatically snapped straight to Amanda. And her sister looked awful. She had a few cuts and bruises littering her face, and looked somewhat like a sleep deprived zombie. But didn't dare say that to her sister's face.
"Terri. What happened?"
"You got attacked. Somehow you managed to run home. When you did you told us you got attacked by someone called the 'Genocide' " Terri replied nonchalantly.
Then Amanda quickly sat up, but only to lay back down wincing. Amanda looked towards her little sister again. Her younger sister has always been the calmest despite being so young.
"You DID have a dream. In the car I mean. Why didn't you tell me when I asked?" Terri questioned sounding quite angry.
"I- I thought it was nothing." Amanda replied. She could feel a lump in her throat. She had never Terri so furious before, seeing as how Terri never showed much emotion.
"Was it about Genocide?"
"Yes. How did you know?"
"Lucky guess."
Amanda was about to open her mouth when she heard footsteps coming towards the hospital room. In a few seconds her Mother and Father came through. The both looked awful. Her mother's face was stained with tears, and she had really deep bags under eyes, and her had bags also.
"My God. . . Amanda!" her mother exclaimed as she ran towards her. Terri, with cat- like grace, moved out of her mother's way to allow her to envelope Amanda in a hug. It was a beautiful sight. Until to police officers follow in pursuit. The officer looked to Terri and gave a warm and sympathetic smile.
After the brief hugging period between Amanda and her mother, the officer finally spoke up.
"Hello. Mr. and Ms. Walker I presume?" one of the officers asked.
"Yes. That's us."
"We have a few questions for you and Amanda about a case we just opened up again. We promise it won't take long."
"Is it about. . ."
"Yes Ma'am. It's about the Genocide Case. But before we ask anything I think it would be best if the younger ones leave."
Terri nearly scoffed. If it had to do about Genocide or Amanda then she had a right to know. And kicking her out is a load of crap. Terri looked at her mother with pleading eyes just screaming: Please don't make me leave!
But with the stern look her father gave she knew it was inevitable. Without arguing Peter and Terri left the room and sat in the chairs in the hallway. The officers closed the doors. All she could hear was muffled noises coming from the room.
Slowly Terri tiptoed her way to the door, and pressed her ear to the door. She could hear everything.
"What happened the night you were attacked?" (probably one of the officers)
"W-well. I was walking home after school. On my first day. The street was completely vacant. I heard a noise behind me, but when I looked no one was there. I heard a noise again. I looked still nothing. Another noise. Nothing. But when I turned forward to keep walking again I saw someone in front of me."
"Who did you see sweetie? Remember take your time." (probably the other cop)
"Well I saw this feminine figure. She had a green jacket. With fur lining at the hoodie. She was dressed almost exactly like any other regular teen. Except she had a mask. With swirls in the eyes. Dark blue tears. And a sick grin. This was the day after a pretty weird dream too."
"Tom this sounds like her"
"I could this be another set of murders? Just like the last?"
"Could be Matt. Thank you so much Ma'am, that will be all."
"You're very welcome officers. Thank you so much."
Terri stood by the door still listening in silence. So Amanda did have the dream. She quickly sat down as she heard the cops walking towards the door. The door slowly opened as the police to their leave. As soon as they were gone she bolted straight to Amanda.
"You DID have the dream"
"How do you- Were you listening?!"
"Yes"
"Terri! That's. . . That's. . . WHATEVER! Just close the window I'm freezing."
Terri looked at her sister a little longer before getting up and walking towards her window. But as she lifted her arms to shut it, she saw a figure under a lone tree in the parking lot. She couldn't see it's face.
But It had the mask on.
The mask of horror. And it was starring. Right back a Terri.
