Unexpected love

Chapter 5

The students had already left by the time they kissed.

They had been kissing for about a minute until Emma pulled away.

"That was...", Killian said.

"A one time thing",Emma said getting up.

"You see that's what I don't understand", Killian said as his frustration grew bigger. "Why can't we be something!?", he practically yelled.

"Because its unprofessional", she said under her breath.

"It's what?", Killian asked. She opened her mouth to say something but he quickly spoke again. "Unprofessional? That is the worst excuse I have ever heard. You can just say that you don't want me",he said looking down. Emma was now getting furious. "I do want you", she yelled. "I wanna have a relationship with you and everything but-"

"But what?", he interrupted her. "We can be something", he said. "No we can't", she quickly responded. "It would do nothing but distract me while I'm working and I don't need that right now", she said with a calm tone. Killian was going to say something but Emma quickly interrupted. "Just...pretend this never happened", she said as she backed away and left.

Emma went back to her apartment where her best friend Ruby waited.

"Hey", Ruby said as she poured some wine into a glass for Emma.

"Hey", Emma sighed as she put her purse down.

"Whats wrong?", Ruby asked as she handed Emma the glass of wine.

"Well remember that guy that works with me?", she asked as she took a sip.

"You mean the super hot one that you have a thing for but you won't date him cause it would be unprofessional? Yeah I do", Ruby responded casually.

"We kissed...", Emma said quickly.

"You what?", Ruby said with a shock in her face.

"I know it was stupid but-"

"Emma that's awesome!", she interrupted her.

"Really?",Emma asked with a confused look on her face.

"Yes!", Ruby said as she pulled Emma in for a tight hug.

"So are you guys going out now or...?", Ruby asked as she pulled away.

"Um...no...you see I told him it was unprofessional and it couldn't happen again", Emma said looking down.

"Ughhhh", Ruby groaned as she fell on the couch. "Why do you do this to yourself? I mean really, if I saw a guy like him on the street, I would pull my pants down right then and there", she said.

"Oh Ruby please  don't ever say that again", Emma said with a face that made her look like she was about to throw up.
