“Can you please let us go?” I’d resorted to begging, now, while Nion sat quietly beside me. It seemed the situation had finally sunk in, and he wasn’t handling it too well. I was sure if we were to try and break free, he’d be able to fight fairly well, but not well enough. As much as I’d hate to admit, I’d have to say I would be the same, and we’d both be overcome rather easily. Besides, with Haru still out of the game, we were one man down, which meant a lot in a fight.

“Don’t beg,” Sasuke didn’t even bother to look at me, “Uchiha’s don’t beg.”

I shut my eyes and let a grim smile stretch across my lips, “You know what?” My tone was pitchy, as I was finally snapping. “You need to stop telling me what it is an Uchiha does,” Sasuke still didn’t look at me, which made me angrier. “The clan probably wasn’t even alive long enough for you learn what it was really like to be one of them, am I right?” Now, Sasuke looked my way. I saw his eyes bleed to red, and I narrowed my eyes, still smiling. “What, did I hit a nerve?”

Chiaki rose from her corner, but didn’t make a move to come closer to me. Instead, Sasuke approached, his hands clenching into fists. Chiaki, I expected, was there for backup. “Never would I have thought my children would be so disrespectful.”

“Don’t touch her.” Nion warned, although we both knew there was nothing that could be done if Sasuke chose to break my neck.

“Or what?” Sasuke’s hand lashed out, wrapping around my throat harshly. I gasped, or at least tried to, for I was now being choked. The panic radiated from Nion, and his movements became frantic as he instinctively wriggled around in his binds, trying to break free.

“You’ll regret it,” Nion hissed, and it was as if he changed into a completely different person in the second. “You only have yourself to blame, you know? None of this would’ve happened if maybe you visited, or maybe, if you didn’t leave at all.” Sasuke’s hands tightened, and I closed my eyes, for the room had started spinning.

“Who are you from?” Sasuke turned away from me, directing his attention to my brother.

“Katsumi. Katsumi Nao.” Nion watched as Sasuke turned away, looking back at me as I tried my best to breathe.

“Doesn’t ring a bell, so she mustn’t have been very important. With the way you turned out, I’m glad I didn’t stay.” Even I thought that was a bit harsh, but Sasuke didn’t seem to care. “As your father, I’ll give you your last words.” I felt the fingers around my neck loosen, and I sucked in a breath loudly, and as a last resort, I blurted the only thing that came to mind.

“I can use the sharingan!” Sasuke’s eyes visibly widened, before he regained composure and set his stone mask once more.

“Hm,” After a few seconds, his hand left my neck, and I fell to my side, gasping for air and trying to remain conscious. “Interesting last words- words that’ll keep you alive.”

“She’s lying,” Chiaki finally spoke up, her tone as bland as her outfit. “only the men can use the sharingan, there’s no way-“

“Chiaki,” Sasuke interrupted the girl, and she stopped her sentence straight away. “You were never put through school, so I’ll explain.” Sasuke made a few hand signs, and blew, fire flowing from his lips to light the small pile of sticks to create a fire. “Nion, you can help me in this. Think of it as a surprise quiz,” The man beside me grunted, visibly tensing. “How many mutations are in the average person?”

“Uh,” Nion had to think for a second, before he finally came to a conclusion. “Sixty.” Sasuke nodded,

“Good. It’s nice to know that you’re not stupid, or I’d just have to put you out of your misery right here.” Nion scowled, before regaining composer and keeping his mouth a straight line. “Nion, can you explain how these mutations work?”
