So I could hardly sleep after today, first time in a very long time I tossed and turned. Firstly it was too cold then too hot, I threw the blankets off and went for a walk maybe that'd help me sleep?

I took a lantern and rugged up and headed out, it was misty and eerie. I did a few laps, made sure everything was okay.

I turned my head to where Leigh's grave was and I swear someone was standing above her with their head down.

"Hey!" A rush of panic hit me and I began running in the direction of the person. "You're not allowed to be here!" I called out but the didn't move.

As I approached them they vanished into nothing, I halted myself and froze. Did I just have an encounter?

"Fuck." That was it, that was all I could say.

I continued walking up to the tomb to find a explanation but nothing, the figure didn't show up. I bent down and fixed the flowers and ran my hand over the tombstone, it was wrong of me to but I couldn't help myself.

"Goodnight Leigh" I whispered and got back up, I collected my lantern and heads back to my hut. I didn't see myself sleeping tonight, so I rugged up by the fire and read a book.

--

Sunrise bursted into my eyes blinding me, I squirmed and tossed my head. The worst thing about the job is the early start and late finishes and not to mention living on site, that in itself was creepy enough but I did have my personal space so I take the good in the bad.

I had a funeral today and I needed to start setting up. Men delivered bouquets and memory's plaques, they helped me set out chairs and everything. I opened the bug gates for business and cars came in and people strolling through diverting from the cars, some cried, some hid their faces and some looked completely misguided and lost.

I hated seeing the children dressed in black having no understanding of what's going on, they broke my heart. I continued my work and as the burial was being done you heard the cries of the family and the snuffled noses of people who kept in their tears. Even though I've seen a ton of funerals it never got easier, you feel their love and pain and it overtakes you.

I finished patching up the grave and the crowd slowly crept away only a few straddling along saying their final goodbyes.

My eyes caught a man ducking quickly past graves and headed towards Leigh, it was Zak. He came with roses and a letter, I watched carefully as he sat next to her and unfolded the paper.

Oh I'd kill to see what he wrote!

I continued to watch him and his body soon turned and his eyes met mine, I widen my eyes and didn't know what to do but I couldn't bare to look away.

I must've looked like a complete dick.

I noticed his shake his head and he looked away, I went away clearly knowing I wouldn't get work done by looking at him. I don't like to snoop on people but I couldn't help myself when Zak came around, apart of him needed someone I think and don't even ask me how I think I could be that person.

Tilly, Tilly, Tilly stop it!

I brought out my mower and started to mow down the hill and start creating more space for graves, I started mowing and my mind drifted off into space. I didn't see Zak coming my way and I nearly ran over him, oh god.

"Holy shit, Zak!" I slammed the brakes and fell off the mower, I didn't care about me I hope Zak was okay.

"It's okay you missed me" he seemed pissed. "Are you okay though?"

"Me? Fine" I waved it off and gave a pathetic laugh.

"I'm sorry for creeping up on you, but um I'm planning on having a little ceremony next week and I need Leigh's grave to be nice and neat please?" As soon as he said her name his face fell and his voice shook, he still couldn't bring himself to know she is gone.

"Um sure, do you have a time maybe so I can make sure it's perfect? And if I may ask what's the occasion?"

Omg Tilly! He doesn't need to give you an explanation!

"It will be one year since she--" he choked on his words and looked away from me.

"Hey hey it's okay, I'm sorry to ask. I'll have it all ready" I patted him on the shoulder and was expecting him to pull away but he didn't.

"I'm sorry." He squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head, without even looking at me he walked away, down the driveway and left.

Seeing the pain on his face caused me pain and a sick feeling in my stomach, I felt like I had know her that's how bad the pain was. I couldn't imagine what he was going through

I wondered why it took him nearly a year to visit her?
