Saitama, for all he's know, he never found interest in anything. Boring and dull was his life.
That was, until he met Genos.
He enjoyed the company. He though he'll never be sad anymore, nor will he be all alone anymore. He thought he could finally find the path he once diverged with, and continue on in that long trek of life with a faithful disciple by his side.
And, that was, until he met (Name).
Ten years has passed since Saitama became a hero, and he watched his disciple grow with every amount of his proudness rubbing off the blonde. He enjoyed watching Genos, even though he was quite infamous forthat blank, dorky face of his.
But he did not enjoy watching you change.
Your smiles got shorter. The jokes and simple, idiotic things he did that always made you erupt in laughter, you just smile at it. Hell, it even looks like afterwards, he'd see you massage your jaw, thinking; 'Wow, is it that painful to smile?'
He always shrugfed that off
Once, he talked to you. But all you talked about was... Something strange.
Like how life is so unfair. How a person who has had enough with being hurt by the coldness of another becomes just like them, wouldn't they hurt more people and change them to the ones whi hurt them?
A happy person is friends with a sad one. The sad one never opens up to the happy one, no matter how he swore, his intentions are genuine. The sad one hurts the happy one.
Then, he changes.
These days, all you'd talk about was change. It was quite terrifying him.
Did something happen to you?
Again, he'd shrug that off. Maybe you were having a bad day. He'd leave you alone.
But, then....
When he saw your lifeless form standing stiffly on the rails that seperated the roof too from the ground down, it hit him.
He screamed from the top of his lungs, don't do it.
He tried to run to you, but, as he blinked his widened eyes...
You were gone.
Sure, he still saved you from that attempted suicide, now that he reminisces as he sat beside your hospital bed.
But you were so, so broken.
It was a normal day. After that realization, he never left your side. Not even when you didn't have the energy to go up from the bed.
He was all you've got. And your loneliness made it all the more painful for him and you, when you were clearly surrounded by people you liked. Loved.
But the feeling wasn't mutual. They don't enjoy her presence like she did to them, even though she loved them dearly.
That broke her. It also broke Saitama.
You were surrounded by lovely people. But you still felt alone.
That's the most painful, agonizing emotional torture anyone can put someone in.
And you were a victim.
He gripped your hand in frustration, glaring at your soft, lifeless fingers as you shifted an eye to his action. You smiled weakly, chuckling an airy laugh that seemed nonexistent.
But then, you muttered something under your breath. You felt so weak, you couldn't find it in you to speak just what you wanted to tell him, and that sweet, smile of yours never held for too long. Saitama smiled sadly at this.
"It's okay, (Name)..." He hushed, moving to cuddle your troubles away.
But you stopped him.
You pointed towards the door, even though a soft grin fpgraced your lips.
He frowned at the gesture.
"... Okay. Call me if you need me."
And then, he left.
You were long gone,
Beyond saving.
You felt inhumane.
Feeling human kindness bestowed upon you made you queasy to your stomach. You felt like gagging from how sweet his concerned smile was.
It was so desirable, you found yourself hating it.
Lost, did you feel.
You don't know what is what anymore.
You started to question your own humanity.
He was too late. Saitama was too late.
Kindness was something you feared, love was something you hated. Happiness no longer lingered in your dreamy mind, and power seemed to be out of option too.
You've drifted too far from being human.
You changed from an admirable human, struggling to find their happiness, to a lifeless doll, full of screaming and regret despite the stoic face.
He was too late. You were long gone.
