There were few things more daunting to Joséphine than her mother; Genevieve Seignar. She was a beautiful woman who could command the attention of a whole room by just walking into it.

From a young age, Joséphine knew that her mother was respected and calculating. And it wasn't until she was old enough to grasp the extent that her mothers cunningness stretched too.

She had used her beauty and charms to rope her father in.

Her wealth and smarts to obtain an upper level job at the French ministry of magic.

Her influence and family name to be one of the most cherished sponsors of Beauxbatons academy of Magic. Joséphine- although not proud of it - could have gotten away with murder at that school, her mother relishing in the sheer power she had obtained.

Genevieve claimed it was so that her only child could become almost royalty at the Academy but Joséphine found out from a young age that her mother didn't do anything unless it benefitted her in the end.

That was why attending Hogwarts was nearly as daunting as her mother.

It was Genevieve that put the silly notion in Joséphines head, the one who told her that she had to be extra careful since Genevieve had no reign whatsoever on Scottish or English soils.

A fact that annoyed her dear mother to no end.

But it wasn't until Joséphine caught a glimpse of the Hogwarts castle that all the fear and insecurity washed away into oblivion.

"It's beautiful," she whispered with her nose practically stuck on the glass of the window.

"Isn't it?" Alice gushed as she too took in the image that she would never get tired of looking at.

If there was one word to describe Hogwarts, it would be quite literally magical. With its towering turrets and architecture that Joséphine believed had never been changed once since the castle was built; created a much more at home feeling than the palace in which Beauxbatons was held.

"I'll never get tired of looking at this," Lily's slightly breathless tone spoke from next to Joséphine. "It's such a shame that this will be the last time we'll ever get to see Arriving at Hogwarts."

Lily's words seemed to resonate through the small carriage, her words even deflated the ever-happy Alice a bit.

"Cheer up," Joséphines French accent clipped. "At least you'll cherish your stay more now that you know you only have so long left."

Joséphines words seemed to do the trick because the girls all brightened up and resumed the chatting in which they had been in the whole carriage ride.

"I know what I'll be cherishing, all the cute boys to choose from," Marlene smirked when Alice hit her shoulder.

"I know I won't be cherishing, the torment Potter will put me in the minute I step off this train. Come to think of it I'm surprised he hasn't found me yet to hound me for a date," Lily huffed as she crossed her arms in annoyance just at the thought of the arrogant toad that had relentlessly pursued her since second year.

"Maybe he's found someone new?" Alice offered as she took a bite of a chocolate frog.

Lily deflated a bit at the thought. Surely you couldn't give up so easily? Especially if you'd given up five years of your life to pursue one girl.

"As if," Marlene smirked, noticing Lily's act. "I'm sure Potter would be happy to oblige in demanding Lily's hand in marriage until he's old and gray."

Joséphine stiffened at the thought, the ring she fastened back around her neck becoming heavy against her skin. It was an obvious reminder that she was currently engaged to the 'arrogant toad' and would continue to be unless she found a way to change their parents mind.

"Imagine that. You and Potter married. No doubt you'd be bickering on your wedding day," Alice giggled.

"Yeah, bickering over whether or not James could bring Sirius on your guys honeymoon. Those two are like a package." Marlene snorted causing all the girls to giggle.

Joséphine remember James vaguely mentioning a Sirius as well as a Remus. Apparently they were his best mates and there was no way he wasn't telling them about their situation.

"We don't keep anything from each other," he had stated in a determined tone as if Joséphine would deny him the right.

"Then by all means, go ahead." She had replied much to his surprise. She guessed that he thought she was an evil temptress that wanted to ruin his life.

Much like her mother.

"We're here," Marlene squealed before rushing out of the compartment with Alice close on her heels.

"Sorry about them, they're just excited." Lily smiled an apology as she took in Joséphines disgruntled look. "C'mon you can share a carriage with us."

Before Joséphine could reply Lily had looped their arms together and proceeded to navigate them through the endless crowd of people, all eager to get off the Hogwarts express and to the welcoming feast.

"There is so many students," Joséphine yelled over the noise.

"You can say that again. But the more the merrier I say!" Lily shouted back as they made it in time to the compartment that Marlene and Alice occupied with a few other girls.

After mindless introductions the group of girls made their trek towards Hogwarts castle.

Finally, Joséphine could live her own life.

"Engaged! You've got to be kidding me mate?" Sirius black yelled as his best friend in the whole world told him of his predicament.

"Shh!" James took a quick look around incase there was any carriages that were within hearing distance. "Keep it down will you, I don't want the whole bloody world to know."

"Is that why you were so moody on the train?" Remus Lupin softly asked, his book that was previously open on his lap abandoned for more important issues.

James have a dejected nod, his body relishing in the comforting hold that Sirius' arm around his shoulder gave him.

The strength of brotherhood.

James didn't know why he waited so long to tell his friends about his situation, he was sure that he would blurt it out once he stepped foot on the train and saw his friends. Instead her spent the whole train ride stuck in his thoughts, barely contributing to conversation much to the dismay of his closest friends.

It wasn't until they were halfway to the Hogwarts castle did he randomly blurt out the content of his suffering. At first he didn't want to tell them with Peter around, don't get him wrong he was a valued friend. He was just absolutely terrible at keeping a secret.

The four friends say in silence for the rest of the ride, it wasn't until the sight of the castle came into view when Sirius broke the silence.

"So is she hot?" He teased as he avoided the two pairs of fist flying at him.

"Just asking, for future reference."
