Making It Big Time
Being Discovered
Marina was excited to share with her two friends the script she had worked hard on for months. She loved to act as much as she hated mushrooms. It was something her whole life revolved around, even with her major case of stage fright.
“I think it is the best one so far. I don’t know if I should enter it for consideration, but it really isn’t amazing like Shakespeare,” She informed.
Mimi beamed, “Act it out for us!”
“I can’t. The main character is a singer,” Marina argued. “I can’t sing to save my life.” She glanced over to Rachel.
“Fine,” Rachel agreed.
Marina loved Rachel’s voice. It was like an angel. Lucky for her, she wasn’t terrified to show the world her talent. Her words flowed after another. It was a wonder that she hadn’t already signed on with a record company. She was just that fantastic.
Passing out the scripts between the three, they divided up the roles. Mimi made it a point to give Marina as much as possible. She loved to watch her act with so much passion in her eyes. It was something you didn’t see too often these days. Most celebrities just did it for the money or the fame, and even sometimes both.
“Sometimes love isn’t the best wonder in the world. Sometimes, it isn’t what we should want…” Marina drifted off, capturing her two friends in her flowing words.
Alex heard words that were mesmerizing. Coming out from his hiding spot, he followed the trail to the living room. Much to his surprise, there, in the middle of the room, was Marina giving a gorgeous act. He didn’t really like actors, not really getting them, but this was different.
The way she smiled or frowned depending on the lines was breathtaking. Sighing, he couldn’t believe that she actually had a talent. Maybe she would like him better if he hooked her up with some people. Her talent couldn’t be ignored like that.
“And love has boundaries, no matter what,” Rachel finished, tearing up.
Mimi applauded, “That was amazing, Marina. You have to submit that!”
“You wrote that,” Alex gasped,” and can act?”
Oops, he thought, cover blown. All three girls whipped around to face him with identical expressions. It started with a shocked look to intense glares.
“Why are you in my house?” Marina questioned.
“Because I feel like it,” Alex retorted.
Marina sighed. Why couldn’t he leave her alone? And being in her house for who knows how long kind of crept her out. Messing with her at school was one thing, but stalking her to her home was another. It was not natural, nor normal. Even further, she was embarrassed. He had just seen her perform. Blood rushed to her cheeks, tinting them in pink.
“You should audition for something!” He exclaimed.
“No,” a response quickly followed.
He was dumb-founded. How could she not want the world to experience that? “But, you are amazing.”
Rachel cut in, “Stage fright, dude. Back off.”
Mimi took advantage of his dazed off state to push him out of the door, locking it firmly behind him. Moving quickly, she locked all the windows and other entrances. Satisfied, she returned to the room. Her friend’s expression worried her.
How could he do that? Marina was beyond nervous and raged. She loved to act, she loved to write, but she hated that other knew about it, excluding Rachel, Mimi, and her close family.
“He’s going to tell everyone,” She whispered.
“We will just deny it,” Mimi assured her.
Rachel agreed, “Nobody expects it anyways. Plus, I don’t think anybody is that much of a jerk after he knows about the whole stage fright business.
She could only hope that they were right. People at school didn’t give her a second glance. She didn’t stand out, but fit right in. However, she liked it like that. Nobody messed with her, and she didn’t have to worry about being a school bitch.
“I’m still going to kill him,” She enforced.
“Of course,” Rachel agreed, “We wouldn’t expect anything less.”
The three friends chortled with laughter, enjoying the company the others provided. There was nothing like true friendship, Marina thought gazing over her two best friends. It was one thing to gossip and back stab like stereotypical cheerleaders, and it was another to bond for life.
Rachel noticed the mood, and started randomly singing, “Everything changes but one thing it true, we’ll always be more than a band…”
“Hold up,” Mimi interrupted, “we aren’t a band at all.”
Rachel gave a cheesy smile, “But we are a band of awesomeness.”
The two other girls started shaking their heads, but continued chocking out words to accompany the more ear appeasing voice.
Max pounded down the stairs. Kasey had left earlier, and he couldn’t have looked happier. However, his amusement bar had risen. His sister and the other two were so hilarious. They hadn’t noticed him yet, singing as loudly as they could.
“Don’t want the neighbors complaining, do we?” He yelled.
Immediately, the three shut up. Marina glared.
“Don’t ruin the beauty of the moment,” She demanded.
He scoffed, “Beauty? But too late, I already did. The only beauty was Rachel’s voice.”
Rachel blushed slightly, “Make us breakfast!”
Growling Max set to work like a slave, while his three master’s laughs followed him to the kitchen.
