Chapter 17

Maria POV

"Maria! Come on! We have to talk about this!"

"No we don't Daniel! Let it go!"

It's been three days since the additions (today is Thursday) and since I told Danny and Daniel about my... Problem. And they won't let it go.

"Come on M! Alex is right! We-"

"Will you please stop calling him Alex?! That's not his name anymore! And mine is definitely not Maria!"

I could see the horror in their eyes when I said what I said. Let me get you up to date: Daniel was a friend back home named Alex, well, named Jace but he didn't like it so he changed it in the 7 grade and made us all call him that. When he moved around mid 10 grade to New York, I heard that he changed his name again. But he only told me, Danny, and the others who are here with us now, but I guess they never thought of what he may look like now.

Me and these two were just walking into the school when Daniel said, "You know, I don't mind if you call me Alex again."

I look at him as if he had grown two heads, "Are you freaking kidding me?! You change your name, you expect people to call you by that name. You changed it to Daniel for a reason. Why would you want to change it back now?"

"Because once you tell the others who you are, we can be ourselves again!"

"Well maybe I don't want to tell them!!"

He stepped back as if I shoved him. I wanted to but my past personality got the best of me. Damn me for being nice in the past. "Are you serious?! The whole 9 months that you've lived here you told me time and time again that you wanted to see your family! And in the almost two weeks that you've found them, you wanted to let them know who you are! And now you just want to thrown it away?!"

"I don't want to tell them until I get-" I point to my stomach for the both of them to see, "-THIS taken care of!"

"Why?!"

"Because what would they think if I tell them and they ask why I waited when I did!? I would have to tell them about my uncle, we would get hunted down, he'll try to hurt not only me but all of you guys cause y'all know about him, and-" I stopped cause I could feel the tears starting to form, "-what would they think about this?" I put my hand and my stomach.

My eyes started to get blurry and I realized that we were outside the choir hall so I leaned on the wall. My legs started to give out and I began to slide down till my butt was on the floor. I felt tears on my face as Daniel and Danny sat next to me. Daniel put his arm around me and pulled me into a hug. "Do you really think that they'll hate you for this? That they'll not want you around anymore? Or is it because your scared Severen won't love you anymore?"

Well that did it! I started bawling out crying into his shoulder, knowing that I'm getting snot and tears all over his shirt. I felt a smaller hand start patting my back. I knew it was Danny's hand, but it didn't help me that much. "Maria, you can't let this one little mistake ruin your life with the people you love. Don't you still love Severen, like you said you use to?"

"Of-hiccup-course I do Danny. I just-hiccup- don't know how he'll-hiccup-take it." I hate when I cry. I always have the hiccups.

"And do you believe that he still loves you?" I decided to nod so I won't sound weird. "Then why would it be any different if he knew? If he truly loves you then something this stupid wouldn't matter. Your health and safety does."

I knew that they were right. I pulled back to say "I'll tell them Monday."

They smiled and Daniel helped me to the bathroom to clean up. Yea, a dude in the chicks bathroom. Whatever, I've seen weirder. After cleaning all my snot and tears, we headed to class.

Severen POV

After the additions a few days ago, I couldn't stop think about Maria possibly being Jessica. I mean, if it was her, why would she hide it from us? Hang on.. What "Jessica" said at the pool party- was it true? Did she really have feelings for me or was it just a sick joke?

My thoughts roamed around my mind all day. At lunch, I saw "Jessica" signing with that Daniel guy and some other chick I don't recognize. I guess she's also a friend of Maria. I leaned across the table and whisper to Lily, "Hey, who's that other girl with Jesse and Daniel?"

She looked and had to look for a few moments before screaming. "DANNY!" She ran over to them and practically tackled that girl she called Danny. I ran after her and saw Jesse was laughing on the floor. I smirked, knowing that the dork Lily is she probably pushed Jesse by accident. I exchanged my arm to help her up, but when she reached up to take it, I saw something. I gasped and stepped back. Lily looked at me like I was crazy. "Dude, what?"

I pulled Jesse up forcefully and pulled her sleeves back. Just what I thought! She's cutting herself! "Jessica, what the hell are these?!"

She pulled the sleeves back and backed away into a wall that we were standing hear. She picked up her book and pen and quickly scribbled, "What's what?"

"Don't play stupid with me! Your cutting yourself! Is this why you won't tell us who you are, because whoever you were back home was someone we know that close?!" I leaned in to whisper in her ear, "I think I know who you are. But I want to hear you say that I'm right. Maria."
