Chapter 7: nightmares and cuddles

That night, red couldn't sleep. No matter how hard he tried, all he could think about was paps. He didn't want to hurt him. He loved him so much... But last time... He shook his head.

"I need to think about something else. Like..."

He heard whimpering coming from paps' room. He tried to ignore it, but something inside him just hurt to hear him like that, so red decided to go check on paps. He opened the door with a soft knock.

"Hey paps? You okay? I just wanted to..."

He looked at where paps was lying on his bed. Paps wasn't wearing anything and the covers had been kicked off.

"N-no" he whimpered "s-s-stop! No... No... NO!" Paps cried out sitting up i a jolt then falling onto his back like nothing had happened. "Ungh... R-red..." Red blushed.

"Yeah paps?" He whispered quietly

"I th-think i l-like you... I... Like like you..."

Red smiled. "I like you too."

Paps smiled in his sleep, but then he started looking scared. "I'm sorry... I c-couldn't s-save you... Y-your brother... He... Killed... You..."

Red froze. Killed him? What kind of nightmare was paps having!? He looked back down at paps, who was now curled into a ball, whimpering and crying. Red sighed. He looked at a clock on the wall. "3:24 am huh? Welp." He shrugged out of his jacket and took off his shoes and climbed into paps' bed. Hugging the naked skeleton from behind and whispering things like "it'll be okay" and "don't worry, I'll never leave you."

"Ever."
