"Enrii."
It was chaos.
Danny and Erwin had noticed it when they were two miles away. They were closer now, just outside the gates of the school. The large building was covered with all kinds of monsters: trolls, demons, mutated animals, seemingly dead people, vampires and werewolves. Some ghosts, too.
Every child's nightmare in one building. Ironic that the building in question happened to be a school.
Erwin shouted over the deafening noise, "I believe that your girlfriend is a monster-magnet. As she is a normal human who has recently been in Port of Realms. The Port is usually out of bounds for humans, she has attracted the attention of most creatures."
Oh. Well that was a new one. "What do we do?"
"One, get to Naomi. Two, go to Port of Realms as fast as we can before the creatures realise their magnets is not in the school anymore. Three, get back to the school and capture as many creatures as possible."
"Won't the students see all the monsters?"
"No. They're invisible to everyone except Kleiis."
"Okay. So what's the plan?"
"My plan was to follow your plan!"
Danny sighed, "Seriously?"
Erwin snorted, "Of course not. I'm a genius, I always got a plan. Let's go."
Danny noticed some monsters grouping together to kill other monsters to then turn on the creatures in their group. In the end they killed each other. The creatures didn't seem too smart. "Inside the building? Just like that?"
"Just like that. We won't attract their attention. Let's just get Naomi and leave."
"And then come back."
"That's what I said."
"You didn't."
"Who cares? Let's just go inside."
They went inside, having to duck from several monsters several times. They seemed to have stopped killing each other, but still fought. Danny lead Erwin to the notification board. It was where all the extra classes for every day of the week was, and their time schedule and room number.
"Room 309, they are still there," Danny told Erwin after checking their time and room, "Let's go."
They rushed up a staircase to the second floor, rushing to the ninth door in the right wing. More monsters seemed to gather around Naomi's classroom, and Danny feared for her. What if something happened to Naomi? Danny would never forgive himself.
Erwin went inside room 309 without knocking. Danny saw it as proof of Erwin's rudeness, but knew it wasn't the time to point out others flaws.
There were snails, tiny trolls, ghouls and nightmares inside the room. Danny spotted Naomi immediately, hunched over a book with her mouth slightly agape; trying to pronounce the words. But Naomi didn't notice the monsters. Though, she didn't seem to detect Danny's presence either.
What was happening?
"Naomi?"
She looked up at Danny. "Hey," she quietly replied. She didn't seem angry at him, but she didn't welcome him with open arms either. She was waiting for him to apologise, because both of them knew Naomi had done nothing wrong.
"Naomi, we got to leave," Danny couldn't hide the urgency, "like, right now."
"Why?"
Erwin stepped forward. "You may not see them, but there's more than the three of us inside this room, right now," he whispered.
Naomi looked cautiously around, "where are they?"
"Everywhere."
"Okay." Danny thought she would deny something as unrealistic as this, but she stood up and slammed the book closed. The only thing was that the sound attracted the monsters.
Erwin shot like a bullet out the door, Naomi and Danny following suit.
"I'm sorry for everything, Naomi. I'm a stupid idiot and we both know it!" Gasping for breath, Danny wished he'd trained more with Naomi for stuff like this.
"I'll always forgive you, Danny. You know I love you."
"And I'll love you even more if we get out of this alive."
They ran through the gates, having lost Erwin on the way out. They hoped he knew that they were on their way to the mulch, and that he'd follow as soon as he could. But there was that little thought that Erwin really was in trouble.
"Naomi, go to the mulch, but stop and let us catch up by the café."
"No, I'll go with you."
"Naomi, please, you are the reason the monsters are in our school from the beginning! You're not a Kleii, and you've just been somewhere where humans aren't supposed to go. I promise I'll come back."
"I said no; I'll come with you no matter what you say."
But none of them had to find Erwin, for seconds after the fire alarm was on and the monsters reacted weirdly to it. They seemed to climb to the speakers that blared the alarm and rub their faces against it. Did they like loud noises?
Naomi pointed out the students coming out from the entrance of the school, but none of them were Erwin. The students lined up and took attendance. Naomi ran forward and announced she was there. There weren't many students left, and Danny saw relief in it. Most of the student body didn't have extra classes. Everyone was looking at the building, trying to find the non existent fire that caused the alarm.
Erwin was knocking on Danny's shoulder by the time Naomi was back.
"You pulled the fire alarm?" Naomi shouted at him.
Erwin grinned, "Yes. Most creatures are attracted to sound. We'll have to hurry to the Port and back. They may like the sound of the alarm, but they won't stay and listen forever."
"Let's go," It was refreshing to Danny to see Naomi so determined.
They hurried to the mulch, went inside, and saw chaos. They begin shouting over the noise of monsters and creatures and plan what to do. They'll get all the keys and then capture all the monsters. Hopefully they're still at the school, but they couldn't be outside Manchester.
This will be a long night, Danny sighed.
