Jermaine's POV
For some odd reason, I was in a really good mood, and I hadn't even seen Christina all day. She left for work before I even woke up this morning, and she plans on working over time today to make up for lost time for Jenna. I hated not always being with her, but I guess today I had to man up.
Literally.
I had a lot planned today, and everything on my to do list involved plans on proposing to her. First, I wanted to talk to moms about it, then of course her mom, then it was off to look at rings with Miguel. I couldn't believe I was actually talking about doing this shit. We always talked about getting married and having a family, and I guess I was finally taking the first step.
On my way to my moms house, I surprised her with a few groceries, and cooked for her. She was shocked that I randomly showed up at her house cooking for her (which is something that I never do) her favorite meal. I fixed baked pork chops, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, and string green beans. After the food was done, we sat down at the dinner table and got straight to business.
"Boy what's the real reason yo' ass came over here?" ma asked as she washed down her food with a sip of Pepsi.
"Yo' son can't just stop by and fix you dinner?"
"Lamarr how stupid do you think I am? Just spit it out. What you want?"
I let out a sigh before sitting my fork down on my plate.
"I want to marry Christina."
"Boy shutup and tell me the real reason why you're over here."
"Ma' I'm serious."
"What, you want to give her a ring just to so you guys can say you're married? What good does it make it if you guys aren't truly ready for that big step?"
"Ma we are ready."
"No you guys aren't. If you guys think y'all have problems now, just wait until the whole marriage thing comes into play."
"Ma the only reason why we fuss and fight with each other is because we were truly made for each other. I want to finally show her how much she means to me. Now that I know I'm STD free, I want to start a family with her. I want to spend the rest of my life with her ma. I'm in love with her!"
"What made you finally realize that you wanted to stop being an asshole to her? I'm surprised Christina is even still there for your ass."
"Because I don't want to loose her. I don't know what would have happened if those tests came back positive!"
There was a moment of silence before she finally said something.
"Mainy I'm proud of you finally stepping up and becoming a man. Took your old ass long enough."
"Okay do you at least have some advice for me ma?"
"Well first of all, proposing to a girl is not just about getting down on one knee and sliding a ring on her finger," she started. "It's the beginning of the rest of you guys life. It has to be special."
"You got any ideas? I don't want to be too corny."
"Just do what you feel is right. Do you want to do it in private or public? A nice dinner on a boat ride, or in front of millions of people?"
"I want the whole world to know I love her!" I laughed.
"Then do it during one of your shows. You're going on tour right? Bring her on stage during one of your songs, hopefully one you dedicate to her, then pop the question."
"What am I suppose to say?"
"Whatever comes to mind during the moment. Why she caught your eye when you first met her, what you love about her, why you want to spend the rest of your life with her. Just be honest. Just let it flow naturally. Don't stage it."
We spent at least another two hours talking about everything under the sun. From the proposal and wedding plans, to just normal things. It's been a while since me and my mom has actually sat down and had a real conversation with each other. I'm always on the move, and hardly ever get a chance to see her as much as much as I want.

After leaving my moms house, me and Miguel met up for the hardest part. Even though Christina is barely associates with her mother, and she doesn't know who her father is, I still felt that it was only right if I asked her mom for Chris hand in marriage. I considered this as the part because Christina's mom wasn't necessarily the nicest person.
Christina's mom has to be the real life Lady Tremaine from Cinderella. It's crazy how much favoritism she shows to Claire than Christina. Claire is the perfect child that she places on a high pedastool, with a perfect husband and family, a nice house, and a nice job. She looks at Christina, then treats her as if she dirt because she doesn't have the same.
Christina's mom looks at me as if I'm less of a man because I don't have a 'real job'. As far as I'm concerned, what I do for a living brings in more than enough money to provide for her, but of course her mom doesn't think so. Because of my occupation and how I've treated Chris in the past, she thinks I'm horrible for her. When me and Christina were together before she didn't approve.
I was just praying that I got this yes from her. Even if she didn't give me a yes, I'm still going to go after what I want, which is marrying Christina.
Once getting Christina's mom address from Claire, me and Miguel headed to her house. I picked him up beforehand because I was not about to do this shit by myself. As soon as we pulled up to the small red and yellow house that sat off from the rest of the houses on her street, I let out a deep breath.
I found it funny that she always expected the most from Claire and Christina, but yet she lived in one of the most roughest neighborhoods. As much as she has been expecting from them, I at least expected her to live in a fairly nice house.
Once I finally grew the balls to actually get out the car, I made a quick tweet and post on Instagram about the tour, locked up my car, then and made my way to the front door. Miguel followed closely behind me, looking around, taking in the environment we were in. I was honestly sacred someone was going to pull a gun out on me any minute. That's how bad this neighborhood looked.
As soon as I knocked on the door, I heard numerous dog barks. Me and Miguel both looked at each other with the same facial expressions on our face. We both didn't fuck with dogs. Seconds later, a fairly tall woman who looked more like an older version of Claire appeared at the door. She wore a filthy red robe, and slippers to match. Her hair was all over her head, and I almost gagged knowing that she didn't have on a bra.
"Can I help you?" the woman greeted me in a nasty tone.
"Yes, my name is Jermaine Cole, and I would like to talk with you about your daughter Christina," I said.
I just threw that off the top of my head. I had no idea on what to actually say.
"I know who you are!" she snapped. "You're that rapper boy Christina crazy about. What you want?"
"I just want to talk to you about her ma'am."
"Is this gone take all day?"
"No ma'am."
She looked at me, then at Miguel, looking as if she was thinking about letting me inside her house or not. She eventually rolled her eyes, then let us in.
