The next day, after work, J kept his word and took me to go pay off the funeral expenses. He paid in all cash of course, and the woman looked at him like he was crazy. The woman was an short older lady, and looked as if she was in her 70s. She had such a cheerful smile plastered across her face, and it was obvious that she was fascinated by something.

"Are you rich?" she asked Jermaine after he had handed her the full $1,758 that I (technically Claire) owed.

Me and J both looked at each other and laughed.

"No ma'am," he replied with a smile.

"You must have an awful lot of money! Are you famous?"

"Someday I will be."

"You're so tall! Do you play basketball?"

"No. I suck at basketball."

"Well it has to be SOMETHING you're good at."

"I know how to dance really well."

"How cool! My grandson is a dancer, and knows how to do all types of tricks," the woman replied as she began dancing and snapping her fingers.

Me and Jermaine both busted into laughter as the woman stopped and posed with her arms folded, and her legs apart. This woman was hilarious!

"Are you two in love?" she suddenly asked us before we started on our way.

Me and Jermaine both looked at each other and grinned as if we were unsure of what to say.

"Yes, yes we are," I smiled confidently.

I was one hundred percent positive that what me and J have this time around is real. He may have made mistakes in the past, but we're both grown, and we've both been a bigger person about the situation. He's manned up to what he has done, and being the person I am, I was big enough to forgive him. We obviously wouldn't fuss and fight if we didn't love each other.

It's only so long we can go about being mad at each other.

"Are you two married?"

"No ma'am."

"Well why not?"

"You'd have to ask him that," I laughed.

"Now why haven't you gave this pretty girl a ring yet?" the woman asked - directing her attention towards Jermaine as she placed a hand on her hip.

I was curious to know what his answer was going to be.

"I'm not rich, remember? Wedding rings cost a lot."

"Well hopefully you get enough money for a ring soon. This pretty girl deserves one."

"Yeah, she does," he replied with a smile as he ran his thumb over my cheek.

I couldn't help but smile as the lady raised her hands up as if it was a gesture for her done talking.

"It's always nice to see young couples in love. I'm a widow now, but love is such a beautiful thing. If you have someone good you better hold on to them!" she laughed as she hugged herself - emphasizing the words 'hold on'.
