"Alpha, you have simply found your mate."

It took me a few seconds to process what Lu had just stated. A mate? That wasn't possible! How could I mate to a human girl?

"Lu, I'd think I would know if I had found my mate." I told her simply as I stood and started to pack away the supplies she had used to fix up my hand. "Leo, you cant deny the facts." Shaking my head, I continued putting things in their respected places before turning and giving Lu a wide smile.

"Will you be attending the pack gathering Tessa has organised for us?"

Dumfounded Lu looked me straight into the eyes, "Alpha you cannot ignore this! The pack will grow stronger with a women by your side. You know this!" Remaining in control of my actions, I gave Lu a tight smile and walked out of the door and away form the medical room. I faintly heard Lu mumble, "You stupid boy", as I turned left and headed to the stairs.

Taking the stairs two at a time I raced up into my office, needing space to think and process things.

I apparently had a mate. A human mate, with amazing beautiful ice cold eyes. Just thinking about her make my heart pick up and my breath quicken. I felt a silly smile make it way onto my face, I probably looked like a psychotic clown but I couldn't care less. I had a mate. She was out there and she was real. How was I meant to explain this to a human? She would probably call the police and send me off to the loony bin if I told her that I was a wolf, and the gods and goddesses have fated us to be together. I went to run my hands through my hair, when I remembered that one was donned in a large white bandage. Sighing I decided it would be best to get changed, seeing as the t-shirt I was currently wearing was splattered in blood, from where I cut it open with the knife.

Pulling on a black long sleeved shirt I raced down the stairs, taking them two at a time until I reached the bottom. Walking into the kitchen I stopped to lean my shoulder against the door frame and crossed my arms with a slight smile on my face. The entire pack was working together to get ready for this bon fire Tessa had decided to set up. Men and women working away in the kitchen to prepare the food that will be devoured in a matter of seconds, with the children running to and fro. Whilst in the middle were my two best friends bickering. It was truly a perfect sight.

It was times like these that I loved to sit back and watch from afar, knowing that I was the reason for this, and I was allowing these people to live in a community where they all felt welcome and able to express themselves in any way they wished. I hated to think of this as my achievement, because they are people and not possessions. But this truly was one of my greatest achievements. To be able to lead, and be looked up to by a bunch of people was truly amazing.

I was pulled out of my thoughts by a dull pain in my cheek. Looking up, I saw Tessa looking sheepish, and Alexander pointing an accusing finger at her. Laughing I looked towards the floor and found a cube of cheese, that seemed to be the weapon of choice used to hit me with. Making my way over I threw the lone cheese cube into the bin and messed up Tessa's hair. Before I should say anything aloud, "Come on kids, foods ready", was heard from the backyard by one of the older pack members. Watching all the pups come running through and into the backyard, I couldn't help but smile. They had only been gone for a few days, but the pack house is always much more lively with them here. "Race you there boys." Tessa yelled with a cheeky grin as she took off towards the tables set up outside a little while away from the bon fire that was lit and illuminating the entire backyard with an orange hue.

Shrugging, I went to race after her with Alexander in toe, stopping for a split second to shove Alex out the way when he was about to overtake me. With a deep laugh I raced ahead until I reached Tessa and lifter her by her waist to swing her around. Not soon after Alexander had joined us, announcing his presence by tackling me to the ground, thus sending Tessa flying towards the floor too.

Laying in the damp grass, with Alex's butt near my face, and Tessa sitting on top of me, I couldn't contain the laugh that ripped from inside me. Everything felt so carefree, and all of a sudden I didn't have this big burden and weight resting on my shoulders, I was just a regular guy, hanging with his friends. The laugh died in my throat when I looked up and saw Grant staring at us with utter disgust. "How are you meant to lead us almighty strong Alpha, when you can't even stand on your own two feet?" With a scoff, he walked off with his little posse, while I continued to lay on the grass. Slamming my fists on the hard ground I flinched and regretted my actions as soon as my cut up hand made contact with the ground.

"Don't worry about that asshole Leo." Tessa said while looking down at my form from her position on my lap. I tried to smile, but it felt too forced. Grant was right in a way. How was I meant to keep this pack safe when I didn't even notice Alex coming up behind me. I should be alert at all times, never letting my guard down. "Leo, stop, I can see that you're thinking about what Grant said." Alex said, sitting up and finally taking his ass away from my face. "You know what? Tonight we are going to do something we haven't done in years." Tessa exclaimed sounding excited. Both Alex and I looked at her with a questioning gaze.

"It's movie night."
