Back at the pack house I stood on the back porch, listening to Kyle scream out in agony as they tried to pop his bones back into place before he could start healing. My feisty mate could hold up her own and do some serious damage. I had left Alexander where the action had taken place to see if any of the shifters decided to come pay us a visit due to Kyle's reckless and idiotic behaviour. It had almost been ten minutes and still no word form Alexander. As I grew more impatient, and the screams from Kyle grew louder, I started to walk towards the backyard where Alexander should emerge from when he was done scouting the area.
When I was about half way across the backyard I heard hurried footsteps and the crunch of leaves coming from the dense bushes that framed our yard. "Alexander." I called out, knowing it was him. However, there was no reply and the brisk footsteps continued to sound closer to me. The Alpha in me growled from that lack of respect, but the side of me that had known Alexander for years knew there must have been something wrong for him to ignore me like that.
Finally he emerged from the bushes. Calling his name louder he still showed no sign of response and kept walking towards the house. Growling deep in my stomach I took off in his direction. Best friend or not, he still needed to show me respect, like I would respect him. Finally, he lifted his head when he saw me approaching him quickly. I was not prepared for the heated gaze he cast in my direction
"F-ck off Leonardo." He growled baring his sharp teeth at me.
Visually shocked, I let him shoulder past me. He only ever called me by my full name when he was pissed off or upset, and he never swore. Snapping out of it, I ran in his direction, catching him by the arm so he would face me. "What is your problem?" I growled at him, increasing my hold on his arm as he tried to break free. Alexander continued to struggle, trying to break free of my hold. Emitting a loud growl I caught his chin between my fingers and forced him to look at me, his green eyes full of hatred. "What. Is. Wrong." I spat out, hating the way he was looking at me.
Without reply, I could feel Alexanders arm grow tense as his change took over him. Jumping back a little I narrowly missed his sharp teeth as he bit at the air in front of him, aiming for me. His grey hairs stood up, making his wolf look much larger than it really was.
Controlling my breathing I tried to stay calm. He knew I had little control over my wolf, and a challenge like this might get him killed. Slowly he advanced on me, hot saliva dripping from his bared teeth, eyes narrowed on me. "Stand Down Alexander." I growled, not backing down.
Move out my way Leo. Alex bit out through mind link.
Growing agitated I slowly started losing my control, my wolf taking over to stop the threat that was placed in front of us, not seeing the wolf as Alex, but as someone who was challenging our position as Alpha. "Alex. I can't hold back much longer. Shift and let's talk this through." I stated, taking steps back as he continued to move towards me. Knowing the shift was coming, I could do nothing to stop it. I began taking off my clothing having lost so much already from it being shredded during my change. With a snap of his teeth Alexander was a breath away from me. And with that, my wolf took control and the change ripped through my entire body.
Landing a few paces away from Alexanders grey wolf, I allowed myself to gain a little control over my wolf, never allowing him to take full control. Circling each other I licked my lips, my sharp teeth gleaming in the sun. I was going to wait and allow him to make the first move, seeing as he was the one that initiated this fight.
"What on earth are you two doing?!" I heard a faint scream from behind me. Stupidly I turned to see Tessa running towards us. It was at that moment that Alexander chose to strike.
