The Dome Series: The Corrupted City

Chapter 7

"We've been walking for miles... can we take a break please?!?" Louis complains.
"We just took a break 5 minutes ago" Pespi says.
"Exactly!! Thank you Pepsi. The more breaks we take its going to delay us from finding the others" I replied strictly.
"Fine but if I collapse it's going to be on you" Louis said sarcastically.
"Really don't care Louis" I replied.

The smell of the fresh redwood trees fill the air. Nature fill the emptiness of sound; water, wind, frogs, crickets, deer etc. All make this beautiful orchestra in the wind. I can smell the fresh dew from the moss and cobwebs made by the spiders.

"Where are we even going??" Pepsi said unsure
"We're following the footsteps" I said
"How do you even know they made out??" Louis said.
"I just know, Okay!!" I said with attitude.

The foot steps stop in front of this bridge. It looks rugged and used. A piece of a plank falls to the bottom were this lake lays.

"Did they cross it?" Louis says
"I don't think so, they must have went around" Pespi said
"They've couldn't there is no way around" I answered.
"Where did this even come from??" Louis asked.
"I have no idea" I replied.

The scenic of this place is so beautiful. It's just weird. Who built this bridge?? And why is it here?? There is a sound coming from the forest. Not the orchestra sound, but a animal sound. A tiger, bear, or even Sliver...

"Do you here that?" Pepsi said.
"Yea, it sounds like an animal growling" Louis said.
"It could be a Sliver" I replied.
"No!! It can't be, they are not found here" Louis said.
"They probably let them out here to cover V.I.L.A's tracks. To make it seem that the Slivers caused all of this" I replied.
"No!! They wouldn't do that, V.I.L.A is good..." Pepsi said unsure.
"If they were would they have destroyed our District?!?!?!" I said annoyed.
"Well I just thou-" Pepsi said unfinished by the sound.

A black matted leg color steps put of the pushes and stands right in front of us. All of us look in fear. It was a Sliver!! It was not your ordinary one, it had a fiery lime green eyes.

"Run!!!" Louis screamed.
"Roxy let's go!!" Pepsi screams as she picked her up

We run up to the bridge being chased by the Sliver deciding to walk across this never-ending pit.

"Where do we go?!?" Pepsi asked.
"We cross" I said unsure.
"Are you su-" Louis says being scared of the Sliver.
"No" I replied.

We start to walk, then jog, and then we run. We run like there is no tomorrow. There might not be one or even a future for anyone. Then a loud thump strike and Pepsi fell.

"Help!!" Pepsi says screaming.
"Hold on!!" I said screaming.
"Louis go!! Cross the bridge!!" I said.
"No! I'm not leaving you!!" He said.

A loud screech came from the Sliver. He grabbed the bridge and shook the bridge over and over again making Pepsi even more stuck.

"If only one of us gets out of this it's going to be you!!" I screamed
"No!! I'm not leaving" I replied with a voice crack.

The Sliver started to make its way onto the bridge, but one of his legs got caught in a whole. He screeched with pain. I thought they couldn't feel any emotion, I guess I was wrong.

"Just leave without me" Pespi said.
"No we are not leaving you!!" Louis replied.
"Wonda would want you guys to make it out of here. It's okay!! Maybe this is my destiny" Pespi said with a tear showing.
"No!! We aren't leaving you, okay!!" I said strongly.

Roxy left us and started to walk towards the Sliver. She was acting weird. Like she had this power about her.

"Roxy no!! Get over here!!" Pespi screamed.
"Here girl!! Here kitty kitty!!" Louis tried helping.

She turned around and gave us a meow like she was trying to say something. Was she trying to tell us to go, I've got this? She turned around and she scratched the Silver and then the Silver smacked her across the bridge were we came from.

"Roxy!!!" Pepsi screamed.
"Come on we have to go!!" I said.
"No I can't leave her!!" Pepsi said crying.

The Sliver got lose, and went after Roxy. He grabbed her and ran away. Did he let us go? Are we free?

"Did he let us go?" Louis asked.
"I don't know, but we have to get off this bridge" I said.
"Did she die?" Pepsi asked crying.
"I don't know" I replied.

All of a sudden the bridge gave a little nudge. One of the strings gave out, Crap!! We finally get Pespi out of the crack and gather our emotions on what about to happen.

"We have to get out of here!!" I said irritated.
"Okay let's go" Louis replied.

We start to run and step by step the bridge gives out. One step, two steps, three steps go. We run faster and faster. Is this it? Is this how I die? I thought I would grow old and fall in love have three children and live an a prairie with my husband and disappear with him in this life. We jump on our last two steps and barely make the ground.

"We made it!!" Louis said with relief.
"Did we??" I asked.
"Yea, we did?" He said unsure.
"Come one we have to keep moving, we can't wast anymore time. We need to catch up to the others" I said.
"No!!" Pepsi replied.
"Excuse me??" I said.
"I said no..." Pepsi said with confidence.

Is she for real? What's up with her? Why is she acting like this? What did I ever do to her? Should I just walk away and leave her...??
