Sydney's POV

It was then that Cody had realised the evident bruise left on my face. His eyes dropped to my cheek and he came closer.

"Are you okay?" He breathed out, concern swarming his eyes.

"I.. Not really." I admitted and he brought up a hand to cup my cheek. He rubbed his fingertips over the bruise in a comforting manner.

I winced though, it did hurt.

My heart was quickening its pace at Cody's tingly touch.

"Finally you admit to not being okay." Cody chuckled and I couldn't help but do the same. What can I say? His laughs are contagious. That's just the kind of affect he has on me.

"Gone is the old Sydney." I joked but Cody didn't seem to find it funny. His smile left his face and he was now looking at me seriously.

"I liked the old Sydney better." He softly confessed and I closed my eyes for a brief moment before opening them again.

His hand left my face and I could finally breathe. But I did like his touch, nevertheless. An awkward silence grew in between us, none of us knowing what to say.

I breathed in nervously. I was going to take a big risk here, saying this. I didn't know how Cody would react, but I just wanted to know the answer, I was trying to be optimistic. I always was, well I used to be anyways. But I was in dire need of an answer, maybe I was even desperate for him.

God knows.

I closed my eyes for a second before opening them again. He was still staring down at me, making me all the more nervous. This wasn't helping.

I just decided to say it. Might as well.

"So now that I know about all of this.." I started and he urged for me to go on, "Could we actually be in a relationship?" I bit my lip nervously.

Cody looked slightly apprehensive. "I'm sorry.. I can't." He shook his head and I bit back.

"Why? It's too dangerous? I'm already in it deep, Cody. You even said so yourself, he's seen me, so there's no getting out. I might as well make the most of it." I raised a brow, having a bit of hope that he would say yeah.

"No, Sydney, I can't let you into my fucked up world, just trust me, you will have no idea what you're getting into. I'm looking out for you." He lightly said, with softened eyes.

"I've had enough people saying they look out for me! Let me be with you, please. I want you, Cody." I pleaded, stepping closer to him. I put a hand on his arm and he inhaled sharply. I could tell my touch was affecting him.

"I.. I can't." He said, regret filling up his eyes. I knew he was hesitating.

I couldn't contain it anymore. I shook my head in disagreement, took another step forward and smashed my lips onto his, bringing him closer to me. I needed him, I really did. I needed his touch, his protection, his love, his everything!

I was slightly hurt when he didn't respond, and was about to break away in humiliation when his lips slowly started moving against mine in the perfect rhythm. I swear, it was like we were made for each other, the kisses between us was proof, they said it all, they just showed our desire, our want for each other.

My hands snaked around Cody's neck, pulling him closer to me and he responded by snaking his arms around my waist. Our kiss deepened, our lips were moving faster and faster passionately. We broke apart for air, and I panted heavily, the only sound in the room was the both of us breathing. I touched my lips, feeling the soft swell.
