I was sat in the Ford Mondeo that I distinctly remembered being my mums but after the divorce, my dad took the car, meaning that my mum had to get a new car. In the end, her lovesick boyfriend gifted her a gorgeous BMW X4 which she never lets me touch.
She's even decided that if I learn how to drive, it has to be in my brothers' car.
Yay me!
I sat in the back once again but this time to my own choice.
I rested my arm on the bit where the window meets the door and watched as we drove through the old town that I hadn't visited for over a month.
I distinctly remember that last time I was here; our dad drove all the way to London just to pick up up for a weekend.
He was dying to see us then, but now he doesn't make much effort to arrange for us to go to his.
This time, it was down to my mum to request that we went to his house.
"well guys, we are here," he said as he stopped the car and opened the door to get out.
"whoa," I said as I opened the car door and stretched out,
I looked up at the small country cottage that was placed in front of me. The cottage had green vines running around the brickwork and a moss-covered brown roof. The door was red and quite inviting.
I walked round to the back of the car and grabbed my bag that was first on the pile. Bear grabbed his and we both stood there and sighed at the fact that everything was silent, there wasn't even a car horn or even a car driving present, unlike London.
I think I quite like it here.
"well don't just stand there... come on in," our dad said as he opened the door and hurried us in.
I looked around and just as I suspected, it was exactly the same as it had ever been, except there was a new sofa and a new TV.
Looks like my dad's got his priorities in order.
"how's your mum?" he asked as he sat down in the arm chair which faced the TV.
"still in a relationship," I said as I looked around at the rooms colouring.
Brown.
That's all I'm going to say.
"still living in London?" he asked after a bit of awkward silence,
"yep," Bear replied as he too, looked around at the room.
"want to see your rooms?" he asked as he stood up.
"sure," Bear and I said in unison as we followed our dad up the narrow staircase.
"sorry about the ceiling height," Dad chuckled as he scratched the back of his head that was on a tilt from the low ceiling,
"I'm fine," I said smiling,
"I'm not," Bear said as he was slightly crouching,
"luckily we aren't going to be here for long then," dad chuckled once more as he headed back down the stairs after showing us our rooms.
My room for the week was a small white single bed that was accompanied by a light wood wardrobe and a side table with my old light on it.
The light was a bear holding an umbrella; the umbrella was the lampshade.
"uh," I said following his down the stairs, "come again?" I asked,
"yeah... what's this about not staying here?" Bear said confused,

Weekend With The Gods
Short StoryOh, My, God. Outside in the driveway was a beat up, old Volkswagen camper van. It's also blue... And very, VERY bright. Sitting in the driver's seat was our dad, who was gallantly beeping the horn for everyone to hear. I sighed and walked out of the...
