I walked over to Jared but made sure that I didn't look at him.
Dick.
I ended up walking faster as Jared kept cracking crude jokes in my ear which ended up disgusting me.
I'm actually an idiot.
Why do I do this? Why do I mess everything up when it's getting good? Why do I want to be with Blaze?
Jared lit up another cigarette from behind and called me back over to him making me speed up more.
"was that your plan all along?" I shouted to him,
"what plan?" he smirked to me,
"don't kid me Jared," I stopped walking to let him speed up,
"I don't know what you're talking about," he whispered to me,
"why am I wasting my time?" I asked him furrowing my brows,
"I really don't know," Jared admitted and licked his top lip,
I tutted and told him to walk in front of me so he stopped being a creep. I was totally wrong about him. When did he suddenly turn into an idiot.
"actually," he stopped walking and sighed, "it was a plan."
"plan to do what exactly?" I stood with my hand on my hip,
"to go after you and make Blaze annoyed, I've never really liked him," Jared shook his head.
"why do you do this Jared," I sighed to him,
"I'm rebellious," he said shrugging,
"can we just go back now," I suggested annoyed,
"sure," he agreed and we walked together back to where everyone was grabbing lunch.
We arrived back at the group of people and Blaze was sitting on his own hunched over like the beast from beauty and the beast. His giant shoulders protected him from everyone thanks to rugby and his black mop of hair was slicked back from the water making him look dirty and unwashed but I felt so bad I just wanted to jump over everyone and give him a big hug.
His chips were sitting on the floor and he stared off at the jet skis.
I decided not to be a wuss and talk to him about everything since I wanted it to be a misunderstanding but it really wasn't.
No, it really, really wasn't.
"Blaze?" I said quietly making his head shoot around to look at me.
His big green eyes were slightly bloodshot as if he had been crying.
"what," he said turning back around,
"can we talk please," I said sitting down next to him on the log that was facing away from everyone,
"sure, do you want to carry on kissing Jared or can that wait?" he asked me rudely which to be honest, I totally deserved.
"you were right, Jared does like me," I sighed looking down at the floor.
From behind me, I could hear people whispering and making comments about why we were sitting together. Especially Angela.
Bear didn't say anything which I was happy about since he did not have an opinion on anything since he was dating my best friend.
Blaze was looking right at me after I turned around back from looking at everyone.
"was it part of his plan?" he asked me as we both sat close together looking at each other in the eyes.
"yes."
He nose-laughed and laughed, "figured," he said to me.
"I didn't want to kiss him, I only wanted to drink cola," I admitted,
"well, Jared isn't the kind to just drink cola, if you know what I mean," Blaze laughed,
"good to know," I said back to him laughing,
"I'm not majorly annoyed at you, you know," he said to me,
"that's good to hear," I smiled,"great,"
"so, what do we do now?" I asked him,
"you hungry?" Blaze asked me,
"always," I said truthfully,
---
we got food. I purchased a burger with extra cheese and Blaze bought himself some new chips with beef chilli on top.
"sorry, I have to ask but why the hell did Jared kiss you?" Blaze asked me after running a hand through his black hair once more,
"I guess he 'likes' me," I said making my hands do quotation marks.
"he doesn't though, that's the thing," Blaze said scratching his wispy haired chin,
"I really have no idea," I said stopping to sit on one of the benches around the lake.
We sat there for around 30 minutes until I received a text from my dad that we were all going back to camp.
Sitting in between the boy that kissed me and the boy that hates him.
Such fun.
I exhaled heavily as I scrambled into the car successfully and sat by the window before being told that I had to sit in the middle because I had the smallest hip and they could fit in the seat. Story of my life being shaped like a prepubescent boy.
Jared gave a small smile before getting in and Blaze smiled at me. I had a feeling it was going to be worse the second time around.
I pulled out my headphones to listen to music and just as I did, Jared grabbed one of the ear pieces and shoved it in his waxy ear before turning the volume up on my phone.
I looked at him with furrowed brows before he looked at me and smiled once more. I looked over at Blaze who was staring with his eyes widened and nostrils flared like a bull in a ring.
I pulled the ear piece out of his ear and shook my head at him whilst Elvis Presley was played quietly in the background.
Jared tried to pull the earphone back but then Blaze grabbed hold if it and it was like a game of tug of war in a silent movie. Soon enough, the ear piece popped right off of the cable making Jared tug at the one that worked.
In the end, I gave up trying to get my headphone off of him so I just looked out of the front window and sighed to myself.
When we eventually got out of the car, I decided to have a few words with Jared.
"why did you take my headphones?" I sounded like I was 5 years old and we were children fighting over a toy.
"all I wanted to do was listen to music," he said lighting up a cigarette and blowing the smoke over in Blaze's direction,
"get your own next time," I said annoyed,
"I have my own now," he said dangling the cable in front of my eyes,
"you owe me new ones," I said crossing my arms like a 3-year-old,
I just keep getting younger.
Jared reached into his back pocket and pulled out a small white box that had tightly wound up headphones in it.
"are these new?" I said as he handed me the box,
"brand," he said before smiling, walking off and puffing smoke.
"what'd he do?" Blaze asked coming over and standing beside me,
"he gave me headphones,"
"headphones?"
"yeah, headphones,"
