Chapter Eight

While continuing to watch the news about George we learned that they had also reported me as the alleged kidnapper but left Ashley out of it. Which was weird, did they not know about her?

"Okay, we're going to be fine. They never mentioned you in the news report, just George and I so we can use that to our advantage" I said then took her hand and brought her back to the dressing room. "You need to take George to the baby section change him into girl clothes okay? But you cannot be seen which will be hard since you said they already think that they identified us...which means the police will be here soon. Fuck!" I yelled quietly to myself and ran my fingers through my hair. "You need to be fast."

"What about you, I don't want to be alone." she said then took George when I handed him to her.

"You won't be. I'm going to get the fuck out of here and pull the car around to the back. Once you have George changed, leave and go around to the back of the building okay?" I said then started going through the clothes that I had brought in. "Change into this sweater." I said then changed into different clothes as well since I was still wearing a robe. "Keep him close and his face hidden. If anyone stops and asks you about him you run like hell and don't stop until you're in the car. Got it?" I asked then looked at Ashley who had a worried look on her face. "Ashley do you got it?" I asked more sternly then put my hands on her shoulders. "You can do this." I finished while ripping the tags off the clothes that we were wearing.

"Okay..." she started then nodded with a little more confidence. "I can do it."

"Alright. Lets get this party started then." I said then took a few deep breaths before leaving the dressing room and parting ways with Ashley. I pulled up the hood on the sweater that I was wearing and kept my head down low so my hair provided a shield for my face. The walk from the dressing rooms to the front door were the most nerve wracking steps that I have ever taken in my entire life. I knew that no matter what that my face had been seen and it was more easier to identify than Georges since I was older, but I was more worried about Ashley.

What if she gets caught?

What if they both get taken away?

"Ma'am?" I heard someone call then felt a hand on my arm.

In that moment my heart stopped.

"Are you going to pay for that?" the voice asked with a hint of nerves in her voice.

"Oh this?" I asked then glanced up at her. "I...uh...actually bought this the last time I was here" I said quickly then shifted on my feet. "Probably wasn't smart of me to wear this in the same store I bought it from huh?" I asked then forced a laugh.

The lady who stopped me matched my laugh with one of her own that sounded nervous and just as forced. "Yeah. Well do you mind if you wait here while we review the tapes? Just precaution. As soon as my manager sees that you walked in wearing it then you can go." she finished while looking behind me. I quickly glanced behind me to see a few store members standing there in a group, one of whom was on the phone with whom I assumed was the police.

I needed to get out of here and quick.

"You know that's really offensive." I started trying my best to sound mad. "The customer is always right, isn't that the motto?" I pressed while crossing my arms. "I'm just going to go...you lost a long time customer." I said then stormed past her and picked up my pace. Mom always told me that as soon as customers said that employees left them alone, but with my luck that wasn't the case here.

"Ma'am you can't leave." I heard a man shout and with that I bolted. I ran so fast that I thought I was never going to be able to stop. I quickly grabbed the keys from my pockets then got into the car. Once the car was started I pulled out of my spot with my wheels screeching from the sudden movement and wasted no time driving out to the back. I was finally able to breathe when I saw Ashley standing there with George who quickly got in once she saw me.
