Malachor
Ahsoka Tano

"Ahsoka..." came the voice.

The voice in her dreams.

The voice in her nightmares.

"Anakin," she breathed, fear and joy dancing together in her blue eyes.

He whose name was once Anakin stood, his ebony mask broken over one eye.

"I won't leave you!" Ahsoka cried out to him, then quietly, "Not this time."

The figure was silent but for the shallow breaths that rasped into the black grille covering his mouth, and out smoothly the same way.
After an eternity he spoke.

"Then you will die."

The blood red plasma ignited as the hope in her eyes drowned, suffocating in the deep blue like a diver who has gone too far and wished for too much. Ezra, seeing Ahsoka's conflict, rushed towards her in desperation as the carved walls slid down and the temple prepared to fire.

Ahsoka herself pushed him away, blocking Vader's strike behind her moments later. No more blood was to be on her hands that day.

"No!" he shouted, grief staining his words. "No!"

That was the last time Ahsoka Tano saw Ezra Bridger.

The battle went on, but the Togruta's heart was gone. Only the raw, non-negotiable will to survive kept Ahsoka from surrendering and letting the darkness wash over her.
She didn't even react when a great explosion was heard from above, rubble pouring down, instead praying that the two Jedi escaped the blast.

High, high above, a young man cried in the arms of his mentor as Ahsoka Tano faded into the Force, a broken spirit.
"It's over now," said Kanan, breathing heavily. "It's over."

In the Sith Temple below, Darth Vader held his former apprentice's headdress in his hand, closing his eyes so that the tears would not fall. When they opened, they were blue, blue as a clear sky, rapidly fading back to yellow. "It's over now," he whispered to himself, clutching the crown: the only relic of his little sister. "Goodbye, Snips."

How very wrong they were.

It wasn't over.

Yet.
