Ahsoka's eyes opened to a place rarely seen, a place she as a Jedi often avoided- the red-painted office of Chancellor Palpatine.
The Chancellor himself stood musing about who knows what, his façade even more obvious to Ahsoka than before. She had sensed a glimpse of his dark power when she was on trial, but this... was different.
The doors slid open to reveal none other than Anakin, his hair longer than she remembered, his scar even more prominent than usual, his eyes stricken with something like grief.
Did I do this to him? Was it my fault? she thought to herself, and suddenly a rush of images flew at her like stars in lightspeed, words echoing at every turn, her memories Anakin's, his fear in her heart, and with them words.
Broken, his mother dying in his arms.
Furious, murdering every Tusken Raider he saw.
Guilty, his hand in Padmé's.
Apprehensive, training Ahsoka for the first time.
Grief-stricken, watching her leave.
And now, his words came back to her.
"It's the Dark Side, Ahsoka... this is the place."
The history of Anakin Skywalker was tragic, but she knew it was nothing compared to his future. More images scuttled past, heralds of sorrow and anger, aggression and most prominent- fear.
The fear was inside her: tormenting her, destroying her mind, a fierce monster that ate away all remorse and replaced it with a terror of loss, waves of self-doubt, burning overprotectiveness, and what it could lead to...
Ahsoka saw the death of younglings at the blade of Anakin Skywalker, the battle between him and his best friend, his near-death experience and finally his end.
Then she was back in the Chancellor's office, and Anakin knelt before him.
"Henceforth... You shall be known as Darth Vader."
A terrible pain rose up inside her as she realised the fears she felt were not just Anakin's- they were hers. And it was her duty to overcome them, to learn the secrets so that one day she may teach them to others like her, so that they may not make the same mistakes she did.
The fear inside Ahsoka Tano's heart dissolved, leaving inside it a golden flame, and she would never be afraid again.
*ALL THE FEEEEELS!!
I'm sorry for no update yesterday, but I still had to recover the part of my mind that is sane and try to make sense of OH MY FORCE THRAWN IS CANON NEBWFRG RVENEYBQYKRULEGJWGGEN!!
And I was also writing prophecies, but you guys don't need to know about that yet... :}Moving on... I also realised something else while watching the S5 finale of TCW and then S2 Finale of Rebels, because I enjoy torturing myself apparently.
The last time we see Ahsoka in TCW, she walks out of a Jedi Temple down a set of stairs into white light until we can't see her while her theme plays.
The last time we see Ahsoka in Rebels, she walks into a Sith Temple down a set of stairs into pitch darkness until we can't see her while her theme plays.
COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT.*
