Today was grocery day. I place Lily into a shopping cart and headed down isle 4 — baby section. Lily's 1st birthday just passed and I threw a small party along with my best friend, Y/BFF/N.

Being a single mom was a struggle even with the help and support of family and friends. He doesn't even know she exists.

Lily giggles and squirms in her seat. "How's my pretty girl today?" I coo. Lily covers her mouth as another fit of giggles tries to escape. "Good" she answers.

I grab a box of animal crackers since we ran out during the party and for Lily's daytime snack. I grab other necessary items such as diapers, wipes and cereal..baby cereal.

Going into the veggies and fruits, I grab what I need. Lily begins to have a fit once we make it down the meats. "Ma-ma!!" She cries. "Shhh, baby I'm right here" I hand her Teddy, her bear but she lets out another shriek.

She's waving her arms around meaning she wants to be placed down. "Okay baby, here we go" I lift her out of the cart with no struggle and place her gently on the floor. She wipes her tear stained cheeks and pushes the brown locks out of her face.

She smiled up at me, satisfied. "C'mon baby, follow mama" I begin to push the cart lightly and slowly so Lily doesn't fall too far behind.

I pick out some cold cuts and ham, placing them in the cart. Lily waddles around beside me until she finds the flower bar as we make it to the check out isle. She takes a big whiff of a mixed bouquet and giggles. "Achoo!" Lily laughs at that.

I push the cart to isle 8 and notice the man in front of me. Lily hugs my leg as she approaches me. I pick her up and gently place her back in the seat.

The man's dark locks are swept to the side..just like..no..it can't. His outfit; a dark blue and forest green checkered flannel hugs his body, sporting black jeans and soft brown boots. He's placing his items on the conveyer belt and I get a good look at his side view.

Slightly trimmed eyebrows, brown eyes, tinted cheeks and a scar—shit. It's him. My eyes won't look away..I can't. It's been so long. My heart beats quick as his gaze lands on me and our eyes meet.

Shawn's eyes widen at the sight of me as he drops a box of cereal back into his cart. "Y/N? I-is that you?" He whispers, almost in disbelief. My head seems to nod as he lets out a breath of relief.

"How've you been? It's been awhile" He shrugs. All I could do was blink, my mouth agape. Shawn turns his attention to Lily, who's also looking at Shawn with curiosity. "Who's this cutie? Your mom had a little one? Why didn't I hear about this?" Shawn questions, waving at Lily.

Lily smiles and waves at Shawn. "Hi! I'm wilwy!" She mumbles. Shawn smiles and greets her, "I'm Shawn!"

My eyes well at the scene. He still doesn't know. He should know. It's the right thing.

"Look Shawn—"

"I've got to—"

"Sorry" we both say at the same time. "You go first" Shawn suggest.

I contemplate for a second, "I'm really happy you're back" I say weakly but smile to hide my sadness and guilt.

Shawn smiles weakly with concern but brushes it off, "Me too". He looks me in the eyes, trying to read me from the inside. "I was wondering if you and little Lily here would like to come over for dinner? My place?"

I look to Lily who nods her head. "I guess we're coming over then"

"Great! I'll text you the address. Still have the same number right?" I nod. "Cool, I'll see you soon, Y/N" Shawn bags his last few items, pushing his cart away with him. His gaze lasts a few more seconds before exiting.

"You too" I whisper

"Mama, who dat?" Lily questions, tugging on my sleeve.

I gently hold onto Lily's stubby little hands and look right into her big brown eyes, his eyes. "That's your Dada, baby" I smile weakly as the tears blur my vision.
