I slowly stretched my body, arching my back as my drowsiness gradually dissipated. I felt something stir beneath me, causing me to jump in surprise as the thing below me laughed. Wait- not thing, person.
"Good morning, beautiful." I heard as the chuckles subsided and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"Good morning." I reply, pulling myself out of Luke's arms to sit up straight, stretching once again.
"Babe, look at Kathleen and Devin." Luke whispered as he joined me, pointing to the other couch where our friends were now spread across it, and each other.
"That's adorable." I respond with a grin on my face before standing up and heading toward the kitchen.
"What are you doing? I like cuddling." Luke whined from the living room, causing me to giggle as I turned on the radio to hear, in my opinion, Fall Out Boy's best song out of their old albums, Sugar We're Going Down.
"Sugar we're going down swinging.." I mumble the lyrics of the song, switching to humming until I feel arms wrapping around my midsection.
"Drop a heart, break a name. We're always sleeping in, sleeping for the wrong team." He sings, gradually increasing the pitch of his voice.
"WE'RE GOING DOWN, DOWN IN AN EARLIER ROUND! AND SUGAR, WE'RE GOING DOWN SWINGING! I'LL BE YOUR NUMBER ONE WITH A BULLET! A LOADED GOD COMPLEX, COCK IT AND PULL IT!" We belted out, both of us doing some strange dance move I hope you never have to witness in your life.
"SHUT UP!" Devin and Kathleen yell from the living room, making Luke and I collapse from laughter as the song continues, fading to background noise.
"What smells good?" Kathleen asks, finally entering the kitchen to see Luke and I supporting each other as we sat on the floor, our giggles slowly subsiding.
"I'm making French Toast." I explain, finally going back to the mixture I need to dip the toast in.
"Does anyone know if French Toast is actually French?" Devin asks, finally entering the kitchen.
"I don't know, google it." Luke, my ever helpful boy friend says as he slides into the last vacant seat at the counter.
I laugh at their banter until I smell something burning on the stove behind me.
"Aw shit!" I shout, taking the pan off the burner where my French Toast became... inedible.
"You've sure got a keeper there, Luke." Devin giggles as Luke punches his arm before helping me clean up.
"Umm... How about cereal?" I ask, holding up the burnt piece of French Toast for the others to inspect.
"Yeah, cereal-cereal's good." Kathleen stutters, moving between the stove and I.
"Hey," I whine, "I didn't catch anything on fire! Yet." I smiled sheepishly, going to the fridge and pulling out some milk.
"Exactly, and we don't need you to catch my house on fire, sweetheart." Kathleen replies, a playful tone in her voice.
"Speaking of houses I need to get back to mine." Luke tells us, giving me a quick hug and kiss on the cheek before he leaves.
"Same here, Mom wants me to help clean the house." I say, pulling a face at the end.
"Fine, but remember we have a double date tomorrow night." Kathleen replies, giving me a hug before I exit the house.

"What are you doing here?" I whisper, pain clear in my voice.
"I'm here because you're my daughter and I want to spend time with you. Is that so bad?" He replies, making me scoff at his words.
