Two gruesomely long years later, I was a month away from turning eighteen. It wasn't on the exact day but I couldn't stay in that house for another second. I would become Scarlett's legal guardian according to my moms will when I turned 18. She knew Scar would be safest with me incase anything happened to Dad. A pretty big check has been sent to my bank account once a week from my mom's parents ever since. We never met our grandparents nor will I ever meet them. When mom arranged the money to come, she didn't consider Dad going downhill. All it was to them was a way to help Dad take care of us. Not me take care of Scarlett. I couldn't let them find out or else I could say adios to the money. If they saw Dad like this, they would take Scarlett away from me. They don't know I raised her since Mom died. Nor will they ever.
