Tristan
I lay in the middle of the bed, waiting for a miracle that time would fly fast and the next thing I would know it's Monday. It was actually the first time I was looking forward to Mondays and the first time I felt like the weekend was so long.
As my thoughts wandered about the past, a beautiful melody sang in my head while memories of my encounters with Erica flashed back.
I followed the music and found myself in the living room before the grand piano. My younger brother was actually the one playing the song. When he saw me arrived, he froze.
"Did I disturb you?" Michael asked. There was a particular time before that I stormed down from my room yelling at him to stop making stupid noises.
"No," I shook my head. "Continue playing."
He continued playing the song from where he left off, but since I seemed to have not been bothered by him, he sang as he played but in a soft almost inaudible volume.
"And this could be good
It's already better than last
And love is worse than knowing
You're holding back
I could be all that you needed
If you let me try"
I knew this song.
"You said it again, my heart's in motion
Every word feels like a shooting star,"
Michael stopped singing when he heard my voice. But he continued to play.
"I'm at the edge of my emotions.
Watching the shadows burning in the dark
And I'm in love," My voice cracked at the high pitch part. I hadn't sang in a long time, unless in the showers. I couldn't sing as well as Michael or Simon, but I didn't really have a bad voice.
"And I'm terrified
For the first time and the last time
In my only life"
Michael ended the song with a little solo piece. He looked up at me with a smile.
"Wow, I've never heard you sing ever since..."
"Ever since dad passed away?"
Michael nodded solemnly..
"Well, it's about time music fills the house once again." My mother strode across the living room, beaming proudly at us. "Glad to hear your voice once again, Tristan."
