"Ho-Ho!" cheers the host as he sees Troy's face in the spotlight.
"I can't sing, no, you go," denied Troy.
"Hey come on, it won't be so bad!" exclaims Sophie, excited to see Troy sing.
"Soph, seriously I can't do it." whispers Troy.
Sophie stares at Troy's face and examines the anxious look that is placed there. Turning to the stage, Sophie sees the other unlucky person that was picked from the audience. Hoping to calm them both down, Sophie turns to the announcer.
"Hey, can I sing instead? I wanna get my party on!" she half jokes, half pleads.
Looking around the room, the announcer sees everyone cheering for the girls to sing together.
With a grin on his face he says, "The people get what the people want!"
With a grin of her own, Sophie hops onto the stage and starts a conversation with the girl already up there.
"Hi there! I'm Sophie, and me and you are gonna rock the socks off these people." she reassured the girl. The girl hugs her arms to her chest in response.
Seeing the doubt on the girl's face, Sophie attempts to calm her down.
"I wouldn't worry too much about all these people hearing you sing. They're probably drunk enough not to remember this in the morning," jokes Sophie.
"Eh, I don't think that's an accurate assumption," she laughs.
"I don't know, these kids look kinda crazy," Sophie whispers as if it was some secret.
"I'm Gabriella," the more relaxed girl states.
"In all seriousness, let loose, have some fun, and if you get scared just look at me," Gabby smiles. Nodding her head the girls look to the screen with lyrics and wait for the song to start.
Someday I'll let you in
Treat you right
Drive you out of your mind
Oooh
Sophie started the song out, belting it like she never would again. She knows she can sing, and she knows she has fun doing it.
You never met a chick like me
Burn so bright
I'm gonna make you blind
Gabriella sang with less confidence, but with an amazing voice nonetheless.
Always want what you can't have
Is it so bad if you don't get what you wanted
Make you feel good
As I whip you
Into shape, ya boy
Let's get it started!
Gabriella slowly gained more confidence as she watched Sophie sing with such joy. The girl danced around Gabriella, compelling Gabriella to do the same. The audience, who wasn't paying much attention before, was cheering and clapping along from their seats.
Give it up
You can't win
Cause I know where you've been
Such a shame
You don't put up a fight
That's a game that we play
At the end of the night
It's the same old story but you never get it right
Give it up
Gabriella couldn't remember a time where she had more fun. She sang along with Sophie, dancing like she was in her room by herself. Sophie couldn't wipe the smile off her face as she made eye contact with Troy. He was clapping and cheering with the rest of the audience, beaming as he watched his girfriend sing her heart out. He slowly made his way closer to the stage with the rest of the audience.
Come a little closer
Baby, baby
Come a little closer
Come a little closer
Baby, Baby
As the girls sang this part, Sophie crouched down and sang to Troy. He soon leaned in and kissed her on the cheek, prompting cheers from the audience. Gabriella then started to sing the next lines, leaving Sophie to ad lib phrases in the background.
So stop trying to walk away
No you won't ever leave me behind
(Noooo)
You better believe that I'm here to stay
(That's right)
Cause you're the shade and I'm the sunshine
(Ooooohh)
After Sophie finished her last ad lib, the girls finished out the song together.
Look at me boy
'Cause I got you
Where I want you
Isn't it so exciting?
Wanna shake you
Wanna break you
Take a backseat boy
Cause now I'm driving
Give it up
You can't win
Cause I know where you've been
Such a shame
You don't put up a fight
That's a game that we play
At the end of the night
It's the same old story
But you never get it right
Give it up
Loud cheers immediately surfaced when the girls finished. Sophie leaned over and grabbed Gabriella into a side hug. Gabriella couldn't believe that she made it through the song let alone got a standing ovation for it. The announcer hopped onto the stage and waited for the cheers to die down before he asked for his next volunteers.
"Encore!" the audience chanted. The announcer looked to Gabriella and Sophie, the latter agreeing and the former turning it down. Gabriella walked off the stage, walking through a field of high fives and pats on the back, while Sophie went to the edge to talk to Troy.
"Okay we need one volunteer to sing with this lovely lady!" announces the host. He turns to see Sophie and Troy playing with eachother's hands as they wait. About to call out for the boy to sing, the spotlight lands on Troy once again. The person in charge of it was thinking along the same line as the announcer.
