It could be because of the energy in the room from the girls singing or because of the pressure he felt from the people cheering. It was most likely because of the cute, hopeful smile on his girlfriend's face when the spotlight landed on him. Either way, with less reluctance than he would have thought, Troy steps onto the stage.

"Hey, you know what? Someday you might thank me for this," the host smirked, "Or not."

Not appreciating the comment from the announcer, Sophie grabbed Troy's hand. He gave her hand a squeeze before starting.

Livin' in my own world

Didn't understand

That anything can happen

When you take a chance

Not at all surprised of how well Troy can sing, Sophie sang her line while smiling at her boyfriend. He had let go of her hand before turning around on the stage. She wondered if he was debating jumping off and leaving.

I never believed in

What I couldn't see

I never opened my heart

(Ohhhhh)

To all the possibilities, oh

Troy's bulid in confidence was similar to Gabriella's. All they had to do was realize they weren't as bad as they thought they were and watch Sophie sing with them. Troy slowly turned back to the microphone to sing, a tiny smile on his face.

I know

That something has changed

Never felt this way

And right here tonight

This could be the

Start of somethin' new

It feels so right

To be here with you, oh

And now lookin' in your eyes

I feel in my heart

Feel in my heart

The start of somethin' new

Oh, yeah

The audience was swaying with the tempo of the song. Troy no longer had a look of intense fear in his eyes-'Thank God,' Sophie thought-and as the song sped up he even shed his jacket. Sophie let out a loud chuckle when he threw it into the audience.

Now who'd of ever thought that, oh

We'd both be here tonight, yeah

Oh yeah, the world looks so much brighter

Brighter, brighter

Oh, with you by my side

By my side

Troy took his microphone off the stand and started to dance in place with a big grin on his face. Sophie remained where she was, gently swaying to the music while watching Troy let loose.

I know

That something has changed

Never felt this way

Oh I know it for real

This could be the...

As the couple entered the chorus again, they started to interact with each other. Troy took Sophie's hand and twirled her around, keeping her hand in his. The couple faced one another and sang the duet, staring lovingly into each other's eyes. Once the bridge of the song came, Troy belted out the lyrics, playing with the microphone stand.

I never knew that this could happen

'Til it happened to me

Oh, yeah

I didn't know it before

But now it's easy to see

Ohhhhh

The chorus came and went with Sophie and Troy finishing the song by staring into each other's eyes and holding the last note. With cheers around the couple they gave each other a sweet kiss before getting off the stage.

"See that wasn't so bad," Sophie shouted of the noise of the room, "I would even go as far as saying you enjoyed yourself, Wildcat."

Troy hummed in response, knowing anything he said would be followed with an 'I told you so' from his girlfriend. Before anything else could be said on the matter, Sophie's attention was taken by the girl she sang with earlier.

"Gabriella!"
