Johnny, Ponyboy, and I were always best friends, from all the times Johnny stayed away from home, to when one of our trio, Pony, got in a relationship, I remember when I first heard about it...

*months earlier*

Johnny and I were deciding which store to steal from. Of course we didn't have money. What are we, Rich, drunk socs? We'd rather be dead. "C'mon y/n, let's just go to the candy shop, if the socs catch us we'll just run away. Please?"
"It's not the Socs I'm worried about, Johnny. I'm sure they're at the drive-in, I'm just worried about Pony."
"Pony'll be fine, he has Darrel and Soda"
"I just hope you're right, Johnny" I said unconvinced as I walked towards the candy shop. Johnny was probably just saying that because he knew I would've wanted to go to the drive-in, he's the only one who knows my feelings for Ponyboy Curtis

*A few days later*

"HEY PONYBOY WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN????" I screamed as I approached my best friend, who I haven't see in about a week
"I have a girlfriend now, I was hanging out with her, after I got her away from those drunk socs"

"..oh.. I'm happy you finally got a girlfriend, I hope she treats you alright" I said walking away so he wouldn't see me being weak, he's only seen me cry once, when my brother died, he was the closest person to me

"What's wrong y/n? Just tell me if somethings wrong, I don't like to see you sad" he said, I sniffled, he's always been so nice to me, I should be happy for him, not crying about not having the person I love, love me back
"Nothing, I gotta get home for dinner, I have to set the table"
"Oh.. well, can you bring me some please? Darrel won't be home until later tonight, way later"
"Sure, all it is is burgers."
"That's better than a bologna sandwich" he said, I turned and laughed, when I saw the disgusted expression on his face when he said "bologna sandwich". I then turned, and left

*Where it is at the beginning of the fanfic*

He never did know that I liked him, or that I was upset about Cherry, but boy, did Johnny know. He thought that Cherry was kinda pretty, but he shut his trap about her when I was around

*Later that night*
I heard a knock on my door. I turned on my bedroom light, and looked at the time

2:32 A.M.

This better be good. I wondered who it was as I walked down the stairs.

I opened my door, there was Ponyboy, crying, and sniffling, he walked in and hugged me, he hugged me hard.

"What's wrong, Pony?"
"Cherry said she was always supposed to be with a soc, not a dirty greaser like me. She said that when those socs were drunk, it was a mistake. I should've never fallen for a stupid Soc"
he said, sobbing, I hugged him some more. I started petting his hair, not like you would pet a dog, but I started petting his hair

"I never did really like her, once a Soc, always a Soc. I knew she wouldn't have treated you right anyway, Pony, you deserve someone who loves you, and would always treat you right, no matter if you're a greaser, or a Soc, who would love you through all your problems. She's not that" it took all my courage to say that, and all my restraining power, not to tell him I love him, I wouldn't want to ruin a friendship.

"Y/n?"

"Yeah?"
"I knew I made a mistake a few days after getting with her. I knew exactly who I wanted, do you want to know who?"
"Sure, I guess" I sighed, I wonder who it could be

He grinned "Johnny"

"Oh my god, you're joking, right?"
"Yes, of course, I'm in love with you, and only you y/n" he said as he lowered his head and kissed me

"Y/N, PONY, NO WAY" screamed Johnny and Dally. I blushed, especially since Dally was there, he was best friends with my brother, so he was like an older brother to me.

"What's going on?" Said Darrel, Steve, and Two-Bit Matthew. Boy, I prayed they didn't see that, I would be blushing even harder if they did

"Oh, nothing" said Johnny and Dally, trying to keep from laughing, failing miserably
I looked at Pony, and he nodded
"Okay, you can tell them"

"PONYBOY AND Y/N KISSED, CONGRATS Y/N, SHE'S LOVED PONY FOREVER" did they rehearse that? They said it in unison

"Finally Pony, I always knew you had a thing for Y/n" Soda said

"Pony, we WERE gonna ask if you and Y/n wanted to go to the Drive-in and beat up some Socs, but I don't really know if you want to now" Darrel could be so funny, even though I knew he was serious
"I know I do, what about you, Y/n?"
"HECK YEAH, LET'S TEACH THOSE SOCS A LESSON" I screamed as Dally picked me up and threw me over his shoulders. At least I was on his shoulders until Pony almost fought with him (playfully of course) to put me down, then he put me on his shoulders, like we used to do when we were younger
