"Jessica!" I yell across the street and see my best-friend heading towards the front doors of our school. I semi-jogged to her and she opened the front doors for me. We walked into the school and apparently our presence caught everybody's attention.

They looked at Jessica with curiosity in their eyes. I knew exactly why. As people use to come up to me asking 'Why does the most popular girl in school hangs out with a nerd like me?' Jessica is always with me but she's sometimes with her boyfriend, (also popular) Luke Knight.

We started walking and she looped her arms around mine. I hated attention and she knew that. Eyes were on her and I as we walked down the the hallway. They were so focused on us and the further we walk down people moved out the way standing against the lockers, then of course gossip about how could a loser be with a gorgeous girl. People feared Jessica, which was one reason why they stay out of her way when she walks, well basically anywhere. My best friend Jessica was a plain bitch, sometimes if she's on her good side you may get a hello from her but otherwise in her soul is royal bitchness. She hasn't been a bitch all her life, her attitude started to change about a year ago when her grandmother, (which was a second mother to her), died. Hell grew out throughout all her body. At times, I catch her and Luke get into arguments about the ridiculous things, and she's head over heels with him. There were some moments where she would put me in my place, but I don't blame her, her grandmother was the sweetest woman I've ever met.

She finally snapped.

"Stop staring! Get back to your boring lives!" Ouch, that kind of hurt my feelings.

They quickly turned their head and proceed to their lockers.

We walk to our lockers and I pull my arm away from hers. Leaning against my lockers, I smile.

"Thanks."

I smiled at her but she was focused on something else. Her eyes were narrowed on someone. Uh oh, bitch mode is turned on.

"Jess?" I waved my hand in front of her face.

Nothing.

I turned to her direction and see Luke talking to her enemy. Madison Pears. See the thing with Madison Pears is, she's also a bitch. Also popular, also has a popular jock boyfriend, also pretty, and also is on the cheer team. Jessica and Madison has been at it ever since the beginning of junior year, fighting for cheer captain. The seniors were leaving and the cheer squad had to decide who would be captain and of course the Jessica I know cannot take no for an answer. Oh, but you can't forgot the time when Madison tried hitting on Luke at her seventeenth birthday party. I've seen them give each other looks, snicker at each other, gossip about each other, but no actual physical fights. I don't think Jessica would fight over something like that. So, Jessica hates Madison, and Madison hates Jessica.

She left me and quickly zoomed over to them. Wow. What a best friend. It's not my problem so why get involved?

I turn to my locker and begin my combination. Okay, eleven, twenty-six, and forty-five.

My locker opens and quickly grab my books knowing the bell will ring shortly. I shoved them into my side bag and swing it around my shoulder.

I look at the door of my locker and my morning classes are Chemistry, P.E., History and English.

I close my locker shut and see James again but he had a more of a soft look on his face. I look into his eyes, which were filled with sorrow. I cross my arms and his reaction change from sorrow to guilt. His body was tense, I would feel bad for him if he wasn't a dick. He scratches the back of his neck and opened his mouth.

"Look about this morning, I'm sorry," he lowly said.

Wait. wait. wait. what? Hold the phone. Is he really apologizing? What a shocker.
