Radio was sitting in the car. His foot was on the gas pedal as he tried to ignore his passengers who were yelling at him to go.
"I have to wait for Aria!" He kept yelling back.
"Can't you see? She's gone back to the Persistence. Let's just go." One of his passengers stated. Radio whipped his head around and demanded, "Stop. We're waiting." He added, "If you don't like it, then go be an Outsider." They shushed up from then on.
Flint and Aria burst through the door. Radio flung his door open and yelled at them to get in the van. Aria struggled into the back, but still had to have help from Flint. Flint, with lanky legs, was able to get in much quicker and easier. Radio looked back at his new additions to the van and stared especially long at Flint and the children in their arms. He looked back at Aria and said, "We talk about this back at base." Aria nodded. The rest of the ride was silent besides the occasional whispers of rumours and Radio telling them to shut up.
Eventually, they finally reached head quarters. Skater and Blood Moon's vans were already parked and emptied. Blood Moon was pacing besides Kid in front of the entrance. Radio's car unloaded quietly and went back to their positions in the base once Blood Moon said, "Lightning meeting, immediately." He was about to walk away when he added, "And Aria, I want you come with your... new recruits." Aria shrunk, but nodded. Inside, people that had just been on the mission were rushed into the doctor's wing. Granite, Bandit, Lily and Cherry, the nurses, moved fluidly throughout the newcomers and checked their injuries. Skater and Pickle were wheeled into separate rooms and Flint walked around trying to help.
Aria watched Flint and shook her head, smiling. Flint had always wanted to be a medic and his drawer was always full of medical textbooks that he had stolen from before the old-world books were burned. He continued on knowingly aiding the nurses.
Aria noticed Blood Moon standing in the corner quietly conversing with The Ghost. Red Sky was in a room down the hall and Blood Moon was staring longingly down it. Criminal, The Storm's head doctor, was with him. Misfit, a shorter Thunder, stood by guarding the door.
Blood Moon suddenly turned away from Ghost and announced, "The Lightning meeting will commence now. All Lightnings must be present in the cavern." At first, Aria was confused, wondering what the "cavern" was, but, a few minutes later, Kid directed her towards it with Flint, Arrow, Bow, Leela and Miles trailing behind. Fay walked beside her older sister. Kid led them down and unwell-lit hall where the wall seemed to have been demolished at the dead end. Kid ducked down into the hole, convincing Aria and her family to follow. The hole continued on into an unfinished passageway. A metal door was locked at the end of it. Kid knocked on it and it was opened by Ray to reveal all the Lightnings. Blood Moon clapped his hands and began, "Okay, now we must talk." He paused, taking in a breath. "A few altercations appeared at the Persistence's main base. These include Rowan Benzedrine and our Thunders' loyalty. As we now know, Bug and Sol have been in secret contact with The Persistence. This must be handled immediately, but as they chose to stay in The Storm, they will be kept in solitary dorms with no outside connections until they spill. But, it has been brought to my attention that there is a possibility that others in The Storm have fallen onto the same path as Bug and Sol's. We will begin conferences with each Thunder and Lightning individually tomorrow. In addition, obviously, Aria here still has authority over Reinforcers. I'm sorry, but this will also need to be researched." Aria's gaze darkened, but Blood Moon continued on. "Red Sky is currently in the Medical Wing and Criminal, Bandit, Granite, Lily and Cherry are all helping him and the other wounded; including Skater. Skater's leg was badly injured by a bullet and a car's door. She will be casted and on crutches. Therefore unable to attend this meeting. The freed Storm members will be assigned new bunks and will restart life here as normal. Aria and her family will be put through the lie detector test. The ones who only speak the truth will be kept here in safety. Others will be sent back to The Persistence." Aria shared a glance of fear with Flint. "The truth-speakers will be assigned new dorms, start training and begin life here in The Storm, if wanted."
