Born in the Amazon, Paola grew up hearing tales of the Encantados - shapeshifters with the power to hypnotize through their music. The locals of the Amazon blame these river dolphins for anything and everything that goes wrong. But Paola keeps telling herself that the Encantados are nothing but stories. Right?
That is until one night at a carnival parade, Paola meets a boy with a drum. His music makes her forget about her fears and doubts and takes her to a place of serenity that she never knew existed. His name is Pedro and Paola does everything she can to convince herself that he's not another Encantado coming to draw her into their inescapable paradise.
The more time Paola spends with the strange boy, the more power his music has over her. And now it has become impossible to deny what he is. Will Poala keep Pedro and his enchanting drum at a distance? Or will she do as so many have done before her and believe that the dolphins can stop time with a single song?
