Lauren's POV
We had just moved to Northern California, into a stunning house right by the lake. And as in we, I mean me, my mom, and my twin brother Jackson. We never knew our dad. Anyway I was standing there admiring the breath-taking view of our new house by the lake surrounded by pine trees.
"Lauren!" my mom calls from inside the house.
I walk inside and I'm just amazed. There is a large living room with beautiful wood floors. And the ceiling reaches high up too the second floor. It's much better than some small apartment and a lot more open definitely.
"This place is huge!" I hear Jackson say as he walks in and stands beside me. Eyes wide.
So you know, me, my brother, and my mom have been living in an apartment since as long as I can remember. She got pregnant with us at twenty and without our dad she didn't have time to finish school. But once we got older she went back to school and she got a job out here as a furniture designer. Since you don't know I have a thing for furniture and furniture stores.
Huh. Maybe that's why you never had any friends.
What? Oh wait it's that stupid voice in my head. Go away voice.
I'm just trying to help. You have the worst of luck at making friends and you don't have any.
"I know I don't have any so will you stop bringing it up." I say out loud before realizing what I had done. My mom looks up from unpacking and my brother glances at me from the side. I need to come up with something fast.
"I mean I'm all out of ores, I don't have any.." I say with a stupid smile on my face.
"Can I go pick some up?" Phew I think I just saved myself. Great thinking Lauren.
"Uh. Sure, go pick out your rooms guys and Lauren you can go." she looks at me confused and concerned. "I need you too pick up a few things from the store anyway."
Nice save genius, she doesn't suspect anything.
Shut Up!
I go up stairs and see that Jackson has already picked a room. He probably left me the bigger room because he's not like the cliche brother who annoys you or bothers you all the time. He is actually my best friend-
Only friend.
Ugh. Jackson is my best friend and he is always looking after me and we tell each other all our secrets and know pretty much everything about each other. He is pretty protective as well but you don't see that side of him very often because most of the time there is nothing for him to be protective of. I mean I consider myself decent looking with my long dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes and freckles. Along with my thin body that does consist of some curves. But I don't see anything to feel that attracted to. Well let's go see my new room. I find the door and push it open.
"Woah"
I look before me at my beautiful room with large windows and a sliding glass door that leads to a balcony. While all of it over looks the lake.
I can get used to living here.
For once I agree with you Megan.
Megan?
