Can the ground open and swallow me now?

All the relatives around our age were occupied the living room. Huh, so the adults are somewhere else at the backyard. I can feel every pair of eyes are watching me, judging me.

"What is she doing here?".

"Who invited her?".

But Garrett was oblivious to it. So he just greet everyone and act like it's normal to being someone attetion. However, I don't. Keep myself being positive, I looked around but got myself looked into this person eyes.

No. I immediately looked away and followed Garrett to this unoccupied couch since most of the guests sat on the floor.

I can do this. I don't have to acknowledge them.

I tooked out my phone after we sat down, make myself to look busy. Or unaware.

"Am, lets get some food.", Garrett told me.

"I'll just share it with you, so take whatever you can". I lose my appetite anyway.

"You sure?", I nodded at him. "What about drinks? Wanna share too?". I glared at him. He laughed at my response.

"No, get me any drink is fine". Nodded at my answers, he left to get some food and drinks for both of us. Yay, I'm alone and awkward again. I looked back at my phone and opened Wattpad application to read some books. At least my mind will be in the Bookland.

After a while, Garrett is back with a plate of food and two cups of drinks. We started to eat and chatting.

But how can I missed the looks everyone gave me? God, this is a wrong idea for agreed to come here.

After we're done with our food, his cousins came to us and talked while I'm just went back to reading where I stopped.

"So are you and her dating?", I looked up and saw his cousins were looking at us.

"What? No! We're just friends", Garrett answered them and laughed. I joined him too. There's no way I'm dating him unless I have a death wish.

"Why not?", cousin 1 asked.

"Then why you brought her here?", cousin 2 asked.

I smiled at them before I answer, " He's dating my best friend. She couldn't come to join us so that's left me and him".

They nodded in understanding. They have some more questions, I know. But they couldn't ask me. I can see it in their eyes.
