Present

"Hey what's after freshman?" Lilac taps me on my shoulder roughly, "Ugh, how should I know, why do we even have names for this?" She jumps up off the couch, and ran to window sighing heavily and points. "OMG look!" She flashes a dimpled smile, clapping, "Trin look! It's him, David." I roll my eyes at her stance, "David is a player, you saw yourself, then again love is blind af." I get up and rub my toes against the soft purple rug while walking to my room to get dressed. It's been two years since I had seen Loui.

He just left

I felt a lump in my throat forming just as I walk into the room with Lilac behind me swooning. "Let's go! Hurry and get changed!" She bounces up and down while I glare at her, "Okay, I'll calm down." She goes and plops down on my bed giving me one last smile.

I get my uniform on, a navy knee length dress and my black sweater with the initial of of the school, v. "School starts at seven thirty, its seven right now" she adjusts her skirt moving to to the door, "lets go the café." I nod and grab my bag.

The walk there was never a lonesome one, since you'd always feel watched, well I do.

Lilac was humming a tune, while swinging our hands. The wind picks up blowing leaves off trees indicating it's fall. The smell of sweet coffee fills the air as we come closer to the place she worked at, Bird Café. I keep a straight face walking inside knowing that my classmates would be here, mostly ones i despise.

"Hey guys!" The girl with pink tips and black hair waves at us. "Aries..." My good friend ever since freshman year. "Yay Aries!" I squeak, shuffling towards her with Lilac giggling, not caring about the others staring. "Sit down, sit down!" She reaches into her skirt pocket and out three different jeweled crosses smiling, "I got us all some crosses, the glittery one with a heart in the middle goes to Lilac." Lilac salutes, "The one with green stones and a fire design goes to me." I start to wonder where she got these. "And last but not least, the one with a letter L on it for love...or whatever." She sets it in front of me, then starts talking to Lilac.

Why didn't she give this to Lilac? Maybe it was because she liked her more. I sit there and look around at the decor, coffee signs and wood pieces and someone staring into my soul. "What the..." My eyes dart away from his blue greenish eyes to the large chalkboard menu lit up by hanging wall lights. I sigh and look down at my cross, picking it up, examining all the tiny designs on it. Lilac glances at her phone, "We'd better get going! It's like, right now lets go!" Her scared expression reminds me of Edwin and his cute little baby face, I smile to myself. "Oh man, I didnt even have my mocha yet, wait up will you?" Aries smirks and grabs her bag while giving us a flirtatious look. She makes me wonder if she really is, "Come on girlies!" Lilac skips over to the door, grinning, tapping her shoe on the wood making a beat. Aries gets her coffee and heads out the door with Lilac, while I just sat there in a daze. One they were used to, but didn't know why I was like that.

I start to get up from my seat feeling a little woozy, I hadn't had breakfast yet, but I could power through it. And as much as I wanted to buy food here, I couldn't. The food here is expensive and isn't that great. Unless you like cardboard. As I head to the door, I jump when I feel someone tap my shoulder. "Hey you left this." I spin around to face the same one that entered my soul. His hair was tinted red, but when the light hit it a crisp caramel could be seen, along with his eyes a bright blue and green mixed together with long lashes, and to complete the peice, his perfect pink lips. I felt my heart skip a beat when he looked at me in the eyes, he showed me the cross I left over at the table, which I could of sworn I had in my hand. "T-thanks- THANKS" I blurt out taking the cross from his soft hands making me feel even more self conscience. I feel my face warm up as I turn to walk away. "It looks regal." His soft voice echoes in my head as I stop dead in my tracks.

"Huh?" I say looking away from him. I don't even know what that means. "Nothing..." It feels as if he was closer this time, right on my ear he whispers, "Important..." His hot breath hits my ear lobe and my heart stops for a second, I start to walk out the door to school which wasn't that far away.
I start running as I see my two friends up ahead. It felt like someone was following me, I turn and again see no one. At least it's morning. "Ayo, we're late Trin." Aries takes a sip of her mocha then looks back at me. I make sure my bun is secure then pull Lilac's hand towards me, "Then there's no reason for us to go to school then." I drop her hand, looking behind me again. Aries laughs and looks up to the sky, her amber eyes lit up while moving her bangs away from her face, she looked very pretty without them, but I appreciate them.

"So we're ditching?! Trin this is one of the best ideas I think you've ever had!" She raises her coffee in the air, and throws it spilling the mocha on the cracked concrete. "Oh my god! Aries I could've drank that!" Lilac pouts and stares over at it, "I just saved your tooth enamel." She laughs again, clearly excited for no school. "Where are we going to go, my mom would kill me!" Lilac stomps her foot on the ground crossing her arms. "Look it's either detention or my house." Aries says looking at me, "our house... besides my mom is never home, always on business trips." Her smile shrinks a little.

We walk inside, me walking in last behind Lilac. I feel a cold breeze on the back of my neck, the cold maybe. Aries and Lilac head into their room where they normally talk, I sit on the couch. "Grruumble" My stomach reminds me of my hunger, but I remember there isn't any food here, grabbing my wallet I head out the door to the food market.

The walk there was quiet, I remember to take off my sweater and tie it around my waist, concealing the red v. As I tie it, I notice the cross was around my neck, a necklace. It wasn't a necklace when I first recieved it. I look around the empty road as I stand there. The cross has an L on it, Aries gave it to me... but who or where did she get this from... someone was staring at me...someone's watching me...now that I think about about it, ever since I got adopted I felt watched. Two years ago... I force the thought away.

I walk towards to the automatic doors and look for a snack, a healthy one in fact. Walking up and down isles I see my favorite vegetable, carrots, the last one. I walk towards them and to my surprise a familiar figure snags them, I drop to my knees as he walks away with them. "Why..." I look to see if there was anything else, there wasn't. I put on a stank face and head over to the ice cream section, getting a gallon of chocolate. I head over to pay for it, when I see him again with carrots in hand heading towards me. Does he not see the other self check outs? Wait isn't he supposed to be in school right now. I turn to the computer quickly scanning the ice cream. "Aren't you supposed to be in school" I jump a little my heart pounding now. "Umm aren't you?" I tap my finger on the button. "Why isn't it working." I whisper to myself. "Royal." He says behind me putting the carrots down on the counter next to me.

My breathing gets faster as he comes closer to me, he reaches over me hitting the button to start over. "Wait a second." He whispers in my ear. I stop breathing all together to hear my heart and his on my back. I start recalling memories of Loui and me... I missed his cold touch.
