Travis was once again on a quest with Conner, but unfortunately for Katie, Conner hadn't picked her to be the third companion. Instead, he had picked Lou Ellen, the magician from Cabin 20. Katie understood, she didn't feel that gardening and fighting with a bow and arrow would end up being much help in the Canadian tundra, but she was still a little hurt. After all, Conner knew about the secret relationship between her and Travis. It just didn't seem fair.

Sighing, Katie continued watering the flowers outside Cabin 4 casting forlorn looks at the other couples wandering around camp. Percabeth was inspecting cabins together, Jiper was on the roof of the Zeus cabin playing tricks on the other campers, and Solangelo was trying, (and failing,) to sneak into the Hades cabin unnoticed. After nearly drowning a pansy, Katie gave up on caring for the kaleidoscopic blooms, favoring instead a walk to clear her mind. It wasn't easy though, when you had a curly haired prankster on your mind. She came to a stop in front of the Hermes cabin and stared at the door, expecting Travis to appear in the doorway. Of course, he didn't, and it was then she realized how much she needed him. She wondered if he missed her.

He did.

He did quite a lot, actually. Even as he was turning "Canadians" into dust, he was thinking about her and wondering if she was doing okay. At one point he almost asked Conner if he could go back to camp; Conner and Lou Ellen seemed to be doing fine without him. He could go home to Katie and hold her and kiss her senseless and everything would be okay. Despite his wishes, he did NOT ask Conner to go home. He knew that, even with his thoughts, his brother had asked him along for a reason, and he wasn't backing out now. Though it was harder for him to keep his resolve when he was freezing his toes off in Canada. It was then that he realized how much he needed her.

A week later, when Connor, Lou Ellen, and most importantly, (in Katie's mind,) Travis returned home, the three adventurers were swamped by the camp, cheering and excitement flowing through the camp like they were one body. Katie stood off to the side, hiding beside Cabin 4, waiting for the crowds to recede to find Travis.

Travis, on the other hand, pushed through the hoards of people and began searching for Katie. When he saw her, he yelled and ran to her, scooping her up in his arms and spinning her around.

"Hey, Katie-cat!" he grinned, setting her down.

"Hi, Travis," she smiled.

"You know," Travis started, taking her hand, "I missed you a lot."

"I think I missed you more," she teased, booping his nose. "I almost drowned a pansy because of you."

"Maybe you DID miss me more then. But you're going to have to prove it," Travis stated.

Katie began to walk toward the flower bed, tugging Travis along. "I can show you the pans--"

Travis tugged her back, grabbing her waist. "Not like that," he complained.

"Then how?"

"Like this." Travis leaned closer and kissed her sweetly, causing a red blush to creep up her cheeks. He pulled away after a second, only to have Katie pull him closer again, her lips finding his quickly.

When they walked back to camp hand in hand, Travis realized that it was Katie kissing HIM senseless, not the other way around like he had planned.

But he wasn't going to complain.
