"Nooo!" Nick shouted as he saw jack's helicopter nearing the end of the platform. Nick quickly went down on all four and chased the helicopter with all of his speed.
Just as the helicopter cleared the pad Nick grabbed one of its side guards and grab...
Two hooded figures are running on all four laws through the ruins of Apex at night. They chose difficult and hazardous paths in order to slow down their pursuers but they seemed to be around every corner.
"There they are!!" one of the pursuing prey shouted to their right.
The figures quickly turned to their left picking up the pace and going through a more hazardous path in hoped of losing their chasers, but the bigger of the two caught their paw on the bumper of a broken car and fell into a hole caused by an explosion.
"Nick!" they shouted trying to climb out of the hole. But the incline was too steep and their paw was sprained from the bumper.
The smaller one, Nick, heard their bigger companion shout and stopped looking back and was shocked to see that they had vanished.
"Dad?!" Nick shouted looking around, but saw no trace of him anywhere.
"Nick! I'm over here!" his father shouted loudly.
Nick quickly ran in the direction of his fathers shouts. Once he reached the hole that had his father trapped he stopped on the edge and bent down reaching for his father with a desperate paw.
"C'mon dad" Nick said extending his paw to his father. "Jump for my paw."
Nick's dad tried to take a running start, but his sprained ankle there was little he could do to reach Nick's paw.
"There's one of 'em!" someone shouted from the path Nick and his father took.
"Nick take my stuff." His father said as he removed his back pack and tossed it up to his son. "Take it and get to Foxden. Warn everyone."
"I'm not leaving you dad." Nick said catching the back pack. "We've already lost mom. We can't lose each other."
"Nicolas listen to me." His father said his voice dead serious. "If you don't warn Foxden then more innocent predators will be killed. Warn everyone at Foxden. Its our job as Cursoribus."
"But da!" Nick tried to protest but his father cut him off.
"That's an order Nicolas!" he said his voice was firm and left no room for argument.
Nick hesitated. Looking at his dad then at the prey that was now closing in on them.
"Goddamit dad!" Nick cursed tears running down his cheeks. Nick quickly grabbed his dad's pack and put it on. Taking one last look at his father.
"I'm proud of you son." His father said calmly with a warm fatherly smile.
"I'll come back for you dad." Nick said boring the image of his dad into his brain. "I promise."
Nick than took off in the opposite direction of his pursuers. In no time Nick had left Apex and his father. He ran into the forest heading away from Apex and away from his dad. Once he passed the trees a he stopped and slumped down his back towards a pine tree. 'Pull it together Nick' he mentally scolded himaelf. 'Dad gave you an order. You have to complete it.' Nick stood wiping away the tears that had fallen during his rest.
"Freeze!" a feminine voice commanded from Nick's left side. Nick stopped wiping away his tears and looked over noticing a female bunny with amethyst eyes. His eyes lowered and he noticed the tranquilizer gun in her, shaky, paws. Slowly Nick stood never taking his eyes off of the bunny
"I said Freeze!" the bunny said raising the gun up so that it lined up with his head. "I will shoot you!"
"Alright then." Nick said spreading out his arms and started walking closer to the bunny. "Shoot me carrots. I've got nothing left."
"S-s-stay where you are!" The bunny stuttered backing away from Nick. "I will shoot."
"Then do it." Nick said taking bigger steps. "You prey already took everything from me. Might as well take my life."
The bunny kept baking up until she walked into a tree. She looked back to see what she walked into and that's when Nick pounced. He took the bunny's gun and quickly disassembled it scattering the pieces.
"Next time you threaten to kill someone," Nick said staring the bunny in her eyes. "Make sure you have the guts to do it."
With that Nick tossed the main body of the gun into a bush some feet away and ran off heading deeper into the woods. The bunny shakily sat down trembling like crazy. All of the sudden an engine roared to life and quickly faded into a faint buzz, then it stopped and everything sounded more quite after that sudden roar. After a second the bunny stopped trembling, then she remembering what her friend Jack said.
'They are savage beast who wouldn't waist a second to kill you. Remember Judy they always go for the kill'
"So why didn't you?" Judy asked looking in the direction Nick ran. ...............................
