A World Alone by Lorde

"I would never leave you." Justin soothed, after I had told him about my dream last night as best I could.

"I know." I pushed a smile as I hugged his bare torso.

After pulling away from him, I slipped out from under the sheets and wiped my tear-stained cheek.

"You should get to school." Justin said from behind me. I frowned, not feeling completely in the mood to go to school today. Although half of my Debby Downer mood today was because I was on my... You know.

"I'll pick you up after school, I promise." He prompted, standing up and coming face to face with me. I stared, curiously, as he turned around and slightly bent down. I realized he wanted me to hop on his back, so I did, soon being carried out of my room at an uncomfortably fast pace.

"Justin, slow down, we're going to fall." I said worriedly as we reached the top of the stairs.

I was slowly set down on my feet as Justin flashed a quick smile before he trudged down the stairs.

Approaching the kitchen, I glanced at the clock hanging above the bookshelf in the dining room.

     5:00.

Did I really wake up that early? That explains why I still feel like falling asleep.

"Justin." I mumbled, shutting my eyes as I walked into the kitchen, my arms hanging lazily. "Why did you wake me up so early..."

"Because I can." He grinned, reaching into a cabinet to take out two bowls.

I reached above the refrigerator and grabbed a cereal box, setting it on the counter before opening the fridge to get milk.

Sitting at the dining table, Justin joined me not long afterwards.

"So. Are you being dragged back to the studio today?" I joked, slowly eating my breakfast.

"No, Scooter gave me the day off." Justin chuckled, licking his lips.

"Does that mean..." A smile tugged on my lips as I met gazes with him.

Justin seemed hesitant at first, but then he heaved a sigh, running his hands through his silky hair that was in a neat mess.

     "Is something wrong?"

"I told Selena I would take her out today..." Justin barely mumbled but I managed to catch his words.

"Oh." My voice trailed off as I set my spoon down in the bowl.

"I'm really sorry." He replied, looking down into his lap.

"I-it's fine." I shook my head.

"No, it's not." Justin finally looked up, "I promised we would hang out today and I'm going to keep that promise."

     "What about Selena?"

"I'll take her out another time." He answered, waving a hand.

I nodded and finished up my soggy corn flakes as they were drowning in the milk, before bringing the bowl into the kitchen and setting it down in the sink.
