I smiled as Colby got into his car to go and see his mom. He told me to stay home because he didn't want me to have to see her so sick. I loved his mother and she loved me but Colby just didn't want me to go. I respected his choice and didn't go. I told him to be careful and kissed him passionately before he left.
-3 hours later-
The phone rang. I was hoping it was Colby to tell me he was okay but it wasn't.
"Hello, is this (y/n) (y/l/n)?" The voice asked.
"Yes. What's wrong?" I asked.
"We're calling about a Colby Brock. Is he your boyfriend? You're his emergency contact." She asked more questions.
"Yes, he's my boyfriend. What happened?" I explained.
"There's been an automobile accident. Mr. Brock is in our care." She informed me.
"I'll be there in 10 minutes." I said hanging up and dashed out the door to my car. I raced to the hospital.
"Colby Brock's room please." I said to the receptionist.
"Yes. Room 312" she replied.
"Thank you so much." I thanked her. I ran to his room and walked in. I was the first one there. He was unconscious. His eye was black and his colar bone was shattered,and his right leg was broken. They told me he had a very slim chance to survive due to a hemridge in his lung. He could barely talk.
"Hey baby boy, I'm so sorry all of this happened. I knew I shouldn't have let you go by yourself. I feel like this is my fault. I'm so sorry Colby. I'm so sorry." I broke down beside him. He grabbed my hand and shook his head. I kissed his busted lips softly. He winced. The tears in my eyes fell down my cheeks silently. He held my hand tightly and started to hum "You Are My Sunshine" I softly sang the words.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy, when skies are gray, you'll never know dear how much I love you, please don't take my sunshine away..." I heard a sharp inhale.
"I...love....you..(y/n)" Colby gasped.
"Oh Colby, I love you too baby." I cried as the heart monitor flatlined. I sobbed into Colby's jacket that I'd taken from the house before I left. I kissed his swollen lips one last time as one of my tears landed on his cheek.
"I love you so much baby boy. You're an angel now. I miss you already." I cried at his bedside until a nurse escorted me out.
