I heard someone whispered on me that but I couldn’t find where it came from or who was it? I really don’t know! As if, it was just–––

*ringing* *eyes open*

She reaches for her cell phone and sees to it who’s calling her at that time.

“Yes?” I answered lazily.

“Girl, where are you now? You supposed to be here at my birthday party! Gosh! I’ve been waiting for you for almost three hours! And I think you were still at the shop counting the sells!” she said and well, she was right about it but I got nap between my counting and almost forgot about her birthday party.

And yes! I promise to come there even though it’s Sunday that a lots of costumers coming in at the shop. Because Sunday is a family day and on this days, our shop was always full and I’m the only one taking care of everything here. So, I think I have a nice excuse to her since she didn’t come today because she asked for it in the first place. *nine o’ clock (9:00)* The clock tell me, oh well, she really waits for three hours and I feel sorry for it!

*sighs deeply* “Okay! I’m so sorry! I just… slept a little so–––’’

“Slept a little! Gosh!” she exhaled harshly. “Anyway, it’s already nine o’ clock and seems my party starts at six this evening… I think this time is the best part of it so, please if you’re done there! Come over here right away! Alright! As you promise!” she added so quickly that cause me not to object.

“Alright! I’ll be there in a minute!” I forcefully agree and after that she end up her call and I just clean up my office table. Then something hits my mind, a memory…

When I was turn at sixteen years old, that guy! He surprises me with such a sweet gesture that I hardly to forget…

“Jade! Are you really this brave to cross at this road?!” Ariana asked me, she’s my classmate and also my co-writer at our journalism club.

I laugh a little. “Well, as you can see! I’m still well and alive so, it means that there’s nothing bad happens to me! So, there’s nothing to worry about here! It saves although as you look at it, it didn’t!”

“Well, it doesn’t matter!” Toni approaches us and surrounds her arms to our shoulders. And take note, she’s a she! With a guy’s name only but she’s a real woman although she’s a boyish type and besides she’s the team captain of our volleyball. The greatest player of our school and I’m so glad to be her friend though. “Because the matter here is your birthday, Jade… so, what would you gonna do after we party?!” she excitedly asked me as if, I’m going to do something else.

Well, I’m already sixteen and they say it’s sweet to be sixteen but I don’t feel like that because I feel bitter. Why? Because at the age of fourteen, I thought I finally found the man of my life!

The man who saved me back there and stays at my side whenever I cross this street, and for all those times being with him. I thought I finally met him that much that I thought he does likes me too! But as I turn fifteen, that’s the time I learned that he had a girlfriend! That I accidentally met at this road and I thought that she’s just lost from here but it didn’t! *sighs deeply* If I only know that she’s his girlfriend, I think I won’t talk to her even though I’ll ruin all the good values that my parents thought me. *gasps* Alright! I’m bit badly and I’m guilty of it! Maybe because I was hurt at that time and until now, but never the less, I can accept it now. Since I’m a bit mature and soon I’ll be!

“OMG!” it was Maricar, our student vice president, a friend since we we’re at grade school. “There’s a guy waiting on us!” it announced and as I stare to it, that’s the time I notice… him?!

*shock* What was he doing there? I repeating asking my self but as I thought, I couldn’t answer it on my own! *laughs inside her head* What the hell am I asking for?! His been always there since he saves me so, what so new if I saw him standing there waiting?!

“I think his waving on you, Jade!” Angelica said my gloomy classmate who happens to be the cleverest one of our school.

“No!” Maricar said and block my front that I surprised off, almost stepping back my one foot just because she just appeared so sudden. “It is me who he–––’’

“Jade!” he called.

That made my heart beats so fast that I couldn’t control of! *pounding hard* This isn’t right! He had a girlfriend so I need to stop this kind of feelings! I have–––

“Hey!” someone poke at my face and that’s the time I notice that they been all looking at me, together with him.

“…ah…” *speechless* Damn it! I couldn’t say a word!

“I think, we should get going…” Maricar announced.

“Yeah! I agree!”

“Me too!”

“Me three…”

*shock* What! They just decided without asking me!

“Bye!” I heard him say goodbye even though I really don’t know how those guys got along in such a short time! *eyes wide open* What the hell is going on?! Am I become deaf all along?! Or maybe I’m just too focusing in his presence that I even lost conscious to the people that surrounds me!

“Hey! Are you with me?!” he asked that I almost jumped out because I’m surprised when I saw his face comes out in front of me!

“Gosh! What are you doing here?!” I asked quickly and turn my face away from him. *blush* Shocks! Now that heat overwhelmed me! My face turning red now that I couldn’t just allow him to see it! “Hey! Now that you saw me I think I should be going and–––’’

“Wait!” *grabs*

I stops when he grabs by shoulder and then he smiles at me so sweetly that took my heart’s out! And that was the dangerous thing he always done at me and I couldn’t–––

“W-what?!” *stammered* Shit! I hate it whenever he did that thing to me!

“Well…” he paused and set my shoulder free. Gosh! I almost want to faint! “First! Where you going? And you were in a hurry?”

Ha?! Are you insensitive or what?! *upset* *sighs deeply* Anyway, he had a girlfriend so he really is insensitive! And I hate it! *gritting teeth*

“Hey! Are you fine?” *worried look*

Oh! His worried! I can read it through his face! But why?! *shocks*

“Anyway, I’m sorry if I approach you here and didn’t come straight at your house.” *apologetic look*

Ha! Again! This reaction of mine is causes by him! *shouting in the back of her mind* Hay! Okay! Calm down! Just calm down! *inhale* *exhale*

“W-what do you m-mean?” Ah, I still stammer!

He smiles again. “I just wanted to make it simply… at first… but it turns out different when I see you for real…” *blush* *speechless* “Well, I think… I should just say it now before I lost my words!”

“Ha?! But wha–––’’

“Happy birthday, Jade!” *kiss* “And I hope you would like my gift to you… the truth… I couldn’t think if it would fit you or not. Still,” *paused for a smile* *I knew you would love it too!”

Who could have thought that, on my sixteenth birthday I could not only receives one gift from him. The one is a necklace with an anklet of flower shape bluish jade stone and the one is the kiss to my cheek. A very special gift I ever receive in my entire life! And it came from the guy that I learned to love though… I know, he won’t be mine… still, I’m hoping that someday… someday… we could be together… only us! Us! As what my heart’s says! But now till forever, I would cherish his gifts to me and I could say that it really is a “sweet sixteen”!
