LOVING THE RAPIST CHILD

Chapter 16

Families, you can't just get enough of them especially when they are trying to dictate your life and you are not just interested.

It was another dinner in the Makinde's house and Ed decided to burst his own bubble by being a genius that he is, finish his work on time and tried to be a good man, and come home early.

Everything went on well, the vegatable was great, the white rice was just like he always loved it, cripsy and soft (or something in between the two) cat fish to go with the meal and a glass of chilled water,

He was enjoying his meal and decided  not to take part in the discussion until he discovered that the next question was for him. His mum cleared her throat and began.

"So when exactly are you bringing a girl home, you are old enough you know, and now that you are managing the company you should really consider settling down"

Here she goes again, mothers won't just leave their son alone to do his own thing.

"Mum, I have always told you that she  the right time comes I will show you the lady am dating, I just want it to get a bit more serious, plus what of Derin, she is already married and expecting her second child, you have grandchildren so why bother me. Plus I am a guy"

Ed said trying to defend himself and making his mother see from his own point of view. He just hated it especially when his mother bother him about his relationship status.

" don't tell me what or what not to do, my son, I want to meet her, and that's final,  before the end of this month, find a way and bring her home and she better be from a good family and a reputable one, well  I believe you are not a kid and you km now you can't bring scandal into this family name" Ed mother said with emphasis on the scandal and called for the house maid.

" how is work, Akanni? I hope you bare coping and the work load is not too much"
Mr Makinde who has being doing a lot of listening while his wife spoke felt he needed to change the topic for meal's sake.

" work is fine, tedious although, we closed the deal with Mr Finn today and he will start his investment on Monday, and the merger went  well as expected. Although we own almost 62% of some of it's investments"

Ed replied, he was thankful that the subject was already diverted into another conversation, the one his mother doesn't like to participate in, he smiled at least she would be silent for a while.

"Dear, please tell him to settle down and find a good wife and start a responsible life. You have responsibilities now and getting married always add to making a good man responsible"  Mrs Makinde Interrupted the conversation again.

"Akanni, your mother is right, you should have a stable relationship now and consider settling down as soon  as possible,  you know when I met your mother........"

Oh God not "when I met your mother" story again, this is the nth time his father has told them the story of how he met his mother in a business meeting, blah,  blah, blah. They had no idea!

" I think am going to retire for the day, I still have some work to do  on my laptop before I go to sleep"   Ed said, leaving his plate and his unfinished food. Wow!  Thank God he at lest finished his cat fish!

He went inside his room and swiped his phone again,  he was expecting a message, but as usual the didn't he it. What was  he expecting he told himself,  that she would reply. Well,a guy can only hope.

At times he just wished he wasn't having a feeling that what he felt for Bright  was one sided.  But he also remembered the look on her face, the way she looked at him had changed, before she always looked at him like it was just purely businesses,  nothing more, but this days he has seen more from her eyes  or maybe he thought he saw more.

His phone vibrated, he opened it and checked, he was so dam sure it was his service provider (Mtn) they always have funny ways of annoying their customers with irrelevant advert.

He almost pressed the delete button before he noticed whom the message was from. 

Bright:  I did miss you, ..... missing text......

Ed was angry, missing text, orw!  God Mtn.  Great just when he thought he got a message from Bright, some part of the message was missing, thanks to the network from his service provider.

His phone vibrated again, and this time it came in full.

Bright:  I did miss you, you have no idea. How was your day?.

Ed was so happy, she missed him,  maybe the feeling wasn't one sided after all, maybe he still has a chance, he smiled to himself, from cheek to chin.

He ready missed her so he just decide to call her and also tell her about the new development in his life.
He kind of felt guilty, he hasn't being completely honest about who exactly his patents were, mainly because he wanted her to see him as the normal guy she met not done rich politician kid.

AN: I usually don't put songs in my novels but as I was writing the next chapter and I was listening to this song by Westlife it  made me feel like the song fitted almost perfectly into this chapter.
The tittle if the sing is " I wanna grow with you" am just gonna write a few lyrics from the song.
