Sage and Tarragon

Scene 1
Sage is looking up
At the night sky, his face
Looks somewhat sad.
He's sitting on the branch
Of a tall tree.

Sage: (Sighs)...

Cardamom: (At the bottom of the tree) S-Sage?

Sage: Hm? Oh, hey there Cardamom.

Cardamom: Hey...whatcha doing?

Sage: Just...reminiscing...(Sighs, but smiles) You know how when we were talking to that memory girl today? Well...I was surprised...Tarragon...was the first person who came to mind...

Cardamom: Tarragon?

Sage: Yeah. Tarragon...he was...a close friend of mine. (Laughs slightly) He was such a nice guy...amazing Pokemon...he had a heart of gold...the amount of times...I kept finding more partners than him...was kinda sad. (Sighs) I definitely didn't deserve it...and he...did...

Cardamom:...You say...all this in the past tense...then that means...

Sage: Yeah...he...died...when we were facing Clemont...Cocoa...she was...in trouble...but Tarragon...saved her. (Takes a deep breath) he always looked past how you acted on surface level...he got deeper.

Cardamom: You two sounded close...

Sage: We were...Hey listen...there was this one time...I was in trouble...he really came to my rescue...

Cardamom: ? Really?

Sage: Yeah...it was against...two furfrou...

(The scene flashes back to the battle where Safflower died)

Sage: Safflower! No...

Furfrou: (Charges at Sage)...

Tarragon: (Blocks the Furfrou with his ears) Sage! Keep it together!

Sage: (Holding Safflower) But Safflower...she's...

Tarragon: I...know...(Tears up slightly) But we need to fight now or you'll be joining her! Come on...(Looks over his shoulder) Do it for Safflower...

Sage: (Still crying) Right...(Attacks Furfrou)

(Flashback ends)

Cardamom:...Wow...I...never knew...I mean...you've been kinda a lone wolf this entire adventure...

Sage:...Each death of me loved one...kept hurting more...digging into my soul...but Tarragon was always there...he was constantly the one who comforted me...or convinced my partners to...talk me out of it. (Stands up, lands next to Cardamom, and smiles) When he died, I decided that I was done...crying in my self pity, because he wouldn't be there to comfort me anymore. (Picks Cardamom up) Come on...by the smell of things, they're done cooking.

Cardamom: (Blushes) Right...

(Tarragon's ghost watches as Sage and Cardamom heads back to the others)

Tarragon: Sage...you and I will always be bros...don't you forget that...
