The Road Beyond

It is the bearing of a human heart
That enlivens his sufferings.
A little sound of a groaning wail,
That stirs up his conscience.
In the wintry rain, fast freezing:
Caught in the gust of despair.
The tread is inevitable and on-going
Despite the destination laid unfair.
It is not in the decisions taken
Nor in the world he saw sculpted;
The choice of uproar, of his fate,
Lies in his chest, swollen but corrupted.

The rain arrives colder than ever
The nimbus over him roaring loud
His will mysteriously dissipates
And morphs into the grizzled cloud.
There is so much taken than before
In pieces that makes the heart scowl,
Stripping off the cologne he wore,
Leaving bare a desired and hungry soul.
The rain washes away his strength
All that he had, up against the world;
Flowing down the endless errand,
To a reach beyond his asunder hurl.
He collapses, strives on his breathing,
Hoping for the shimmering sun,
Heavy eyes at the horizon scrounging
For the sun to arrive again as he hopes.
The clouds did retreat to infinity
And a rainbow did paint the blue.
A blighted dream in the lap of reality
Did end with a triumphant hue.
He smiled, wakening his befallen eyes;
And a whisper gently speaks 'begin'
Rejuvenating his weary heart and mind:
A gift of courage from an outworn wind.

He walks again, fording to his castle.
The strength that had washed away,
Returns to the undying river, unsettled;
And his will, was paved along his courage.
This is the nectar that wreathes
Through his indestructible veins.
The nightmare slowly but surely creaks,
To unravel the face of a wishful grain.
