"Ava, I was going to tell you as soon as I got back from getting food, but now that you know, I don't have to."

"Well, this is awkward." I heard Kyle mutter. I feel ya there bud.

We all awkwardly stood there for about 3 minutes before Kyle broke the silence, "I guess we should get going... mom's waiting."

We followed him out to his car. I was guessing his family was rich because he had the nicest car I'd ever seen. It was a 2016 Maserati Granturismo. I was very jealous, my family could never afford that. We got in his car, my dad let me sit up front with Kyle, so considerate of him. On the bright-side, Kyle gave me his phone to choose the music to listen to. His playlist looked a lot like mine. It had everything from Rap, R&B, Pop Rock, Classic Rock, and even a little Classic Country. I picked a Mariana's Trench song to listen to first. I loved that I now knew someone who shared the same interest in music as I did. Avery only really listens to the likes of Justin Bieber, Fifth Harmony, and Ariana Grande.

After what felt like 5 hours of sitting in the car, we arrived to the biggest house I've ever seen. I've never seen a mansion up close before, I had no idea what I was missing out on. It had the biggest pool ever. I don't know why it was so big, only Kyle and his mother lived here. Seemed kind of pointless to me, but I don't care, I'm going to take in every bit of this. Kyle helped carry our stuff inside. I'm surprised they don't have someone who helps them do that. I laughed to myself thinking about that.

"What's so funny?" Kyle asked, I didn't even realize he was standing next to me.

"Oh, nothing. I just kind of figured that since you have all the nice stuff, you'd have someone that does this stuff for you."

"We do... he's got the day off." He said seriously, and then snorted, "I'm kidding, no we don't have any type of servants here, except our occasional car driver. Sometimes I wish we did though." He said as he lifted my suitcase up the steps, "What do you have in this thing? A body?"

I smiled, "Now how would I have smuggled a body through security? It's just clothes, use them muscles!" I felt his biceps, and I was shocked, he didn't really look like he had much muscle, but it sure felt like he did.

Kyle showed me to my room so I could get settled in. I put all my clothes away and freshened up. I decided to change my clothes since I've been in these ones since I left New York. I looked through my clothes and decided to wear something other than sweat pants and a t-shirt. I found some short shorts and a crop top. I looked in the mirror to see how I looked. I should really start wearing more revealing clothing, I have a great body and great curves. Sweats and over sized tees don't really do it justice. I still wore my hair in a bun, it's way too hot to have it down right now. As soon as I got situated, I went downstairs to meet my new step mom.

As I made my way down the long staircase, I took in everything about my new house. The walls were covered in Victorian era portraits and other vintage artwork. The staircase was marble all around, I felt as if my feet didn't have any authority walking on them. It was so breathtaking.

When I reached the bottom of the steps I saw Kyle sitting in the living room watching a movie. "Hey, Kyle. Where's your mom?" I asked as I stood in front of him.

He looked up at me and looked my body up and down, he couldn't take his eyes off of me.  I forgot I was wearing little to no clothing, as opposed to earlier when he met and I was in sweats. It took him a couple of seconds to snap out of his gaze to answer me.
"Uh... she's uh in the kitchen." He managed to get out before looking at me with that gaze again.
I couldn't help but giggle to myself a little. I smiled at him before I walked to the kitchen. I could feel his eyes following me. It was a good feeling for a boy to be looking at me the way he was. I never really had anyone look at me in that way. Boys didn't really pay much attention to me, they all loved Avery though. I guess my dad was right, I am always in her shadow. Just there, nobody really cared about me. But I'm in California now, it's time to be just Ava.
